Fine margins, looks like it's going to the wire.

I might be able to help you with that deficit though - if that points figure in orange is right, I make you equal 1st!

EDIT - can see you've amended it back to 1672 now. Hope you hit the top soon though!

Plan with that team was Vardy and Aubameyang to Rashford and Jesus. Formation doesn’t allow Martial as I don’t want another defender.

To be honest I’ve really messed up this season frittering away transfers willy nilly when will I learn I just can’t help myself. One of the two teams in this SL will have a strict transfer usage policy next season....

So chaps after missing Jesus I’m stubbornly refusing to consider him now . So what’s the best use of those two transfers. See team screenshot.

Was thinking tonight doing Ings and Martial for Aubameyang (harder fixtures) and Mount (doing zilch).

Or could bring in Jesus for Aubameyang on 11/7 no extra game as need cash but City better fixture and Rashford for Vardy (after Bournemouth) on 13/7. Risky to go the rest of the season transfer less though.

I’ve gone for Ings. I can’t be losing the SL by not having him and the top 2 did have him. So at least I won’t lose ground.

Also I want to be cheering Ings on % without any recriminations.

Week 51 apparently

Top team finsihed 25 points off the lead in the end (pre CF) and having used its last two transfers removing Aubameyang and Mount for Ings and Martial that's the season done and dusted. Pretty average has to be said, must do better next season which is what I say at the end of every season!

A Tale of 12 seasons

Post by happyhoppy »

So almost time for another season of hope then despair.

Early draft, thoughts?

Was going to wait and see on Werner still not sure whether to start with Greenwood and planning on giving Kane 3 matches before Sterling comes in.

Looks good - similar defence to my current draft (which is still changing by the hour of course).

Main question marks from me would be...

Kane over Werner? For various reasons as I wrote elsewhere, I think Werner is the first name on the teamsheet this year, and I don't trust a Mourinho team to allow Kane to get back to his scoring form of previous times

Fernandes over Martial? Can Fernandes really keep up his stellar fantasy points from last season? Is he a little overpriced? Is Martial, now released into a CF role, a better VFM pick?

KWP over Vinagre? You're biased here of course

Ramsdale over Lloris/Allison? Genuinely haven't yet looked at the stats re VFM of a budget keeper vs a premium. Thoughts?

Saka over Foden? Both are rotation risks, Foden with the bigger upside, but accept he may be a wait and see. Expecially as City don't play in week 1 and have tough fixtures to start too...

...and on that note, any consideration of the Man U 2-0 at the start?

It isn't great, only 5 teams play twice before United's first game. Everton, West Brom, Leicester, Leeds and Fulham.

Been following this thread since you originally started it Paul, so have been looking forward to this season's offering. I like this draft; it looks flexible, and feels like it should cost more than £50m

Like the Kane to Sterling plan, (decent 3 games for Spurs) although I also prefer KDB. You could even extend that idea and get two bonus games out of Vardy and /or Barnes (vs WBA and Burnley) before switching to Bruno / Greenwood for their first match (Hog and Darby's comments refer)

I'm also starting with the same defence (apart from a Wolves defender for Tierney). Guess you feel KWP is worth the little extra over Bednarak?

With no spare cash, what are your thoughts on replacing Saka if Pepe and Willian demote him to the bench on Saturday lunchtime?

I'm currently favouring Werner over Ings, although I could still get some Saints attacking coverage with Che Adams in place of Saka

Kane came back strong after the lockdown (or did I imagine that lol) happy to give him 3 games, gonna wait on Werner (CK commandment after all!) as CFC have virtually a complete new team of signings so might take time to gel.

Fernandes over Martial? Can Fernandes really keep up his stellar fantasy points from last season? Is he a little overpriced? Is Martial, now released into a CF role, a better VFM pick?

Coin toss but Ferandes on pens and set pieces, Martial possibly more streaky, I'll go steady steady early doors and assess.

KWP over Vinagre? You're biased here of course

Vinagre is in a few others but I'm not convinced he's 100% a starter whilst KWP is.

Ramsdale over Lloris/Allison? Genuinely haven't yet looked at the stats re VFM of a budget keeper vs a premium. Thoughts?

Not sure premium priced GK's give great vfm especially if SU continue where they left off, I considered Mc Carthy too but nagging doubt over Forster if an error or two creeps in

Saka over Foden? Both are rotation risks, Foden with the bigger upside, but accept he may be a wait and see. Expecially as City don't play in week 1 and have tough fixtures to start too...

Think Saka will play a lot and defo more than Foden. Others may show themselves in time. But defo a ? so I might look for safer options

...and on that note, any consideration of the Man U 2-0 at the start?
As Darbyand says below not much interest. I'm on the MC 341 though.

Yeah seen those mate I'm leaning towards Sterling as he'll be consistently further up the pitch. KDB can go through spells of playing great but contributing little in the way of actual hard points especially if he plays deeper.

I'm thinking about this for Greenwood, maybe wait and see on him with the new signing.

Just because KWP will get forward more and I'm not 100% on which CB will make way for Salisu, probably be Stephens but I'm not Ralph!

As I said above I may go for a safer pick initially and go from there.

Yeah I have Werner elsewhere but I feel such loyalty to Ings he carried us last year, probably will leave the cash to get him in once he shakes off his CK status!!

I think Dier is the only one in your team that I haven't had in my drafts at some point.

Saka is a tricky one as I pencilled him in to start, but at the moment have squeezed out the extra funds to have Adams with a view to replacing him with possibly Saka, Foden or Ake depending how Adams starts and whether any of the other three appear to be definite regular starters.

With no stats to back it up I just don't fancy Spurs defenders. The same reasoning, not fancying Arsenal defenders ruled out Tierney too! That's not to say I wouldn't reconsider if either team show they can be defensively sound.

At the moment the defences of both my two teams are made up entirely of cheaper players from "lesser" teams, partly in the hope that with a shorter season and without european matches to fit in there may be less chance of rotation which is always frustrating, especially if top defenders should get rested from the odd game against a lower team when a cleanie might well be expected.

Let's see how long that plan lasts before the big guns start racking up the clean sheets and I panic transfer!

Have a feeling that Foden may not be a regular starter anytime soon
