A Tale of 10 seasons

Post by happyhoppy »

Week 40

In my main Super League still have the top 3 and our jointly run team is 61 ahead with 7 in the cup final, hopefully job done. The team below is 27 ahead of 4th. Be the first time ever someone has all the podium.

In the Tenners League I'm currently 2nd but only 21 ahead of 3rd and 22 ahead of 4th. Wasted my last transfer Image not got a lot in the cup final so hoping I have enough. Think I’m a defender light but may be enough?

Week 41

So got an unprecedented top 3 in my Super League so very happy about that and stopped someone winning it for a third time in a row, he was 4th. Image my other team that I started with on here finished 7th. Highest nationally placed team was our collaborative team in 228th followed by my Tenners team in 354th. Would have been nice to get a top 100 team but not been good enough, missed too many hot streaks like Aguero’s two hat tricks. And too slow getting on to LFCs defensive bus.

In the Tenners League I got 2nd, 38 points off top but held off the chasing pack who weren’t far behind.

No promotion in the egg championship as my doomed all in attempt at catching Gutty cost me. Just a D Silva goal the difference in the end.

But overall a good cash profit and a decent season super league wise.

Re: A Tale of 11 seasons

Welcome to the 11th annual tale of my TFF season.

So with the changes there will be just the 5 teams which will used as follows:-

2 main SL teams for my private F&F league.
1 team to be used for my Tenners/25s.
1 egg cup team
1 team for my works league.

Put a few drafts together and it's clear with just 5 teams you are not going to be able to cover too much but I'll be looking to have some of the potential big hitters across my teams. Got to stop myself being tempted by SFC pricing again but I do think we have VFM under Hassenhuttl, I'm expecting us to be top 10 this season......

Top 10 could take some doing with the old 6 plus Wolves, Leicester and Everton looking good for the top 9?

Where are you expecting the Fantasy Points? ie a good defence or scoring a fair few? Over in FPLland I've been pondering your GK's....

Yeah could be right on top 10 but I'll settle for not being in a crappy relegation battle!

Think RH will get us scoring more, we should be more attack minded in a 4222 and we should be tighter at the back than we have been (not hard). Gunn is widely tipped to be 1st choice btw, great VFM at 3.1 in TFF. Adams also cheap at 3.9 but maybe be safer to go with Redmond at 3.8 initially. Vestergaard, Bertrand, JWP, even Ings could be good VFM also. Vestergaard looks safest of the CB's atm but we're in the market for one so that may change.

This is how I see the defence
Gunn (McCarthy)
Valery (Soares), Bednarek, Vestergaard (Yoshida Stephens Hoedt), Bertrand (Vokes)

I was a bit surprised Gunn didn't start last season as he is highly rated, and was a tad expensive?

Is that 2 DM, 2wide and 2 CF's with the FB's attacking?

I think this season will see 4 groups: the top 2, maybe Spurs on their own; then the rest of the above; a few safe from relegation; then the promoted 3 plus Newcastle battling for the parachute payments.

The main unknowns are:
Burnley - which is the real one the really good one or lucky to stay up with the EL?
Wolves and how they cope with the EL.
Your lot, as it was a fortunate escape?
And Leicester as there is something bad there called Vardy and how he turns the Club against managers in their 2nd season...

This is one of the SL teams I've entered, the other one has 7 differences. The core players are AA, Zinchenko, Salah and Sterling.

Moraes 4.5 Season long plays cup

AA 4.5 cheaper than the other 2 so no brainer with all the attacking points too
Gomez 3.6 risky with Matip but can always switch to Digne/Coleman and others
Pereira 3.5 Chilwell in the other team but this guy also gets forward bit more though
Zinchenko 3.2 looks to have LB position currently, keeping watchful eye on KWP at Spurs only 2.4

Salah 7.0 main man at LFC and surely a must have
Sterling 6.5 with Aguero not yet ready? Sterling could be the main goal threat early on if not the season, close to a must have too
Jota, D 3.9 hoping he starts like he ended last season not starting it!
Lanzini 2.8 played a lot of pre season, if he doesn't start I might make an early switch to KWP.

Kane 6.6 Yeah it's August but new stadium etc think Kane is gouing to get back to his best, close call with Aubameyang/Vardy
Adams 3.9 great value I think, had a good pre season and think he's going to do well

I think Ederson played the Cup last year because Bravo was injured and Guardiola didn't trust Muric (and having seen him for Forest at the weekend I can see why). With Bravo starting the Shield, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets all the cup games this season

Fair point, toss up between him and Alisson, the other team has the latter. Really tempted by Gunn at 3.1 as that cash could be handy so may make a last minute change. Looks like Kane has some competition now too with Dybala imminent.

Seriously, that team strikes me as quite “template”, which may not be a terrible thing. It certainly looks very similar to the majority of mine (ie the three that aren’t the Egg Cup and the Block league).

Got off to bad starts in previous years trying to be too clever, last season I think wasn't too bad and I think that was going for the tried and tested. I'll do the same again and try and get off to a solid if unspectacular start. That's the plan anyway. :D

A Tale of 11 seasons

Post by happyhoppy »

So some late changes to the team I initially put forward:-
Moraes to Alisson
Gomez to Doherty
Lanzini to Bertrand

So forced into my first transfer and had no spare cash so opted for Pickford rather than burning 2 transfers to get Ederson in.

Decent start (like many). Even with my 2 SFC players lol

My 5 teams were:-

78 Tenners/25s - 4811 T40
70 - 18205 T39

Week 3

A better week mainly due to being a busy one rejigging teams bringing in the now injured KWP in all 5 teams to get in Aguero/Kane ditching the injured Chilwell and Bertrand and the slow starter Adams. Kept him here though just moving out the injured Bertrand (who may also be out of favour) for the now injured KWP. Wanted the cash to upgrade one of Doherty/Adams to Pukki at some point.

The team that got 75 has moved up to 4th in the SL of the team below just 10 off the lead, managed to get Salah, Sterling, Aguero and Kane in there.

My 5 teams:-
75-175-3200 T36
61-163-9754 T36
65-163-9636 T35

Week 4/5 First IB

Some gains but more transfers used, pretty settled on my teams now although not sure I like this one (my worst placed) as much as my other team which is currently my best placed. I may switch teams at some point if this one continues to struggle.

Week 6

Pretty average week and more transfers burned losing Emerson, KWP, Doherty, Jota and Kane across my teams. Gotta slow down.... that said I put in Lanzini last night to give me the option of putting in the current bandwagon Abraham for either of my mid priced defensive failures.

My 5 teams:-

Week 7

More transfers and teams going backwards  In the team below I thought it was time to get on the Abraham bus in time for their good run of fixtures (and him losing his place) financed by dropping Digne to McGinn who I was impressed with in last week's MNF and thought he was a differentiator around that price and he rewarded me with an unexpected goal at Arsenal, also dilutes my EFC defensive exposure.

My 5 teams:-

37-309 - 9681 T33
47-304 - 12833 T33

Week 12

Nice week hoppy. I can understand the love for the Leicester back line right now, with both form and fixtures very much on their side. Jumping on board in time for the Saints game has given you quite a leap in rank since then - you obviously saw that one coming!

It's a bold move to go for Schmeichel too now, but given Everton's poor form and their fixtures soon turning ugly, it's also hard to argue against moving Pickford on and it could pay dividends if it comes off. Good luck!

Well I’m not sure I saw 9-0 coming Image but yeah the vfm was the main factor and after Arsenal they have great fixtures. Could argue Arsenal is a great fixture too Image

I had planned on bringing back Allison but the Mahrez issue needs addressing and Mane is the obvious choice.
