Much better. Confidence restored in the manager, well set-up for the busy Christmas period.

Disappointing.... My one point loss not helped by half my team being sent off!

Time to sort ourselves out for a winter surge...

Morning,

It seems joshua82 has moved onto pastures new - and given some of Digsbys captain choices from last season who can blame him! :P

So this seasons the poisoned chalice that is the 5th spot in this squad is to be taken by topspur - Welcome.

*

I thought I'd add my draft squad here for amusement.

I think we are forced to play a wildcard this season by week 19? so I've set my squad up for the first 4 weeks only and then I'll play the wildcard.

Image

I'm heavy on Arsenal and Utd as they have nice early fixtures. Sunderland and Soton also have nice looking starts so they make up the cheap spots. Young is the biggest gamble here but he seems to be in favour at the moment at Utd - I'll keep my eye on him over the next week. But with Defoe and Wanyama as decent options from the bench I'm not too concerned.

Thoughts?

:D

Just starting this season's research - I have four overlaps with you - 2 are must haves IMHO hazard Rooney + very keen on Depay.

2 Leicester keepers

Not sure Giroud is the right premium player though early season fixtures may make him interesting.

Baker is very popular but is he a nailed on starter - if not at 4m he will be difficult to remove .

Rest seem decent choices to me

Was tempted by the idea of the 8.5m 'guaranteed starter' keeper option pre initial wildcard to maximise the money elsewhere and Leicester were great defensively at close of last season, so wouldn't argue against it. I'm swaying towards two starting 4.5 keepers (currently Krul/Butland) for decent early rotation.

Can't argue with the 2*Chelsea defenders! Fonte is overpriced for me as is van Aanholt given you can get cheaper in each defence (Cedric/Coates). Could get in say Moreno instead of Baker with this downgrade (albeit, you'll always then be leaving value on a bench...)

Young is good for the price, Depay is a gamble I'm taking as well given their fixtures (as always, hoping it fails spectacularly given Utd!!), and Rooney looks nailed on up front.

Hazard. Yes. :)

Defoe v others at 5.5, good as any.

Giroud, the gamble for me, but he does clock up points.

Man Utd Depay Midfielder £8.5
Sunderland Cattermole Midfielder £4.5
Bournemouth Ritchie Midfielder £6.0
Arsenal Giroud Forward £9.0

Looks like the league has been renewed on FPL, which Hotpot must've done, and the 5 members from last year are entered. I''m sure he'll get on it eventually.

Otherwise we could stage a coup and appoint a new captain.

I've posted in the 5AS thread saying we'll be in anyway.

If Hotpot doesn't appear, one of you can assume temporary captaincy and declare on his behalf, if your team is full then that's fine - if you need a hand just give me a nudge.

Good to see we've all assumed our correct positions prior to the 1st fixture.

I'll be leading the team out from the front, Digsby will be bringing up the rear as per.

Digsby cuts through the field, a la Dancing Brave 1984 (?), as he eases from last to first in the Nuts league.

If Digsby keeps getting lucky we could challenge in this league... :P
