APAT team event - Stoke = 1st 2nd Feb

Post by spireiteontour »

evening all

have completed the application for the APAT team event

We are not guaranteed a spot of course but we have managed to get one in the past

Simple starting point is to express your desire to take part underneath

We require 8 members - should we get more than the 8 I think it is important we encourage those who missed out last time to play this time

I will start us off

After the wife's reaction to my last APAT event attendance, I think I'll regretfully have to decline - especially as she'll be recovering from some fairly major surgery at that time.

APAT UK Team Championship Stoke 1st/2nd Feb 2014 - List of Teams
« on: December 15, 2013, 08:54:17 pm »

Apologies to those teams who applied for the APAT UK Team Championship but who have not made the ‘cut’, and we hope you’ll look to put yourselves forward for future events, but for 2014 we have had huge demand, and so much so that we have negotiated with Genting Casino, Stoke to increase the number of teams from 25 to 30.

Therefore, I am pleased to confirm that the following 30 teams (of 8 players each) will take part in the APAT UK Team Championship 2014 at the Genting Casino, Stoke on Sat 1st and Sun 2nd Feb 2014:

888Poker
A World of Poker
APAT Champions
APAT Forum
BCPC
Blackbelt Poker
Blonde Poker
Blue Blood Poker
Bristol & South West Poker Meetup
Duke Street Poker
Edgworth Cricket Club
Elite Amateur Poker League
FISO
Frome Poker Group
Gambling Network Forum
Grosvenor Southport
Hetton Social Poker
ILovePlayingPoker
In The Muck Podcast
LBPN
LMC Poker
London Poker Meetup
LPPL
Midlands Poker Forum
Newcastle Poker Forum
Sky Hitsquad Team
The Hendon Mob
UK Deaf Poker
Voyage In Poker
Yorkshire Poker Club

We hope these teams not only bring along their 8 playing members, but others who will support and rail throughout the weekend to make this an event, and year, to remember.

As mentioned in the 'calling notice' here the event has on occasion suffered from ‘team last minute dropouts’ in the past, and therefore for 2014 we are maintaining a reserve list of teams from both all those unsuccessful and those who offered to enter more than one team.

Also as mentioned in the calling notice, all successful teams are required to pay the entry fee in advance by 12:00 noon on Friday 17th January 2014 at the latest - teams not paid by then will have their place offered to the team on the top of the reserve list. Any team that pays the full buyin and has a last minute need to drop out will have their entry offered to the next team on the reserve list and whichever team takes up this option will have their buyin used to reimburse the team that had to drop out (via APAT).

Details for Team Captains to pay the £440 buyin will be advised idc.

All Team Captains should inform myself by PM HERE (or by direct email to tombrady[at]hotmail.co.uk) of the names of their 8 playing members by 12:00 noon on Friday 17th January 2014 at the latest.

Also as mentioned in the calling notice, APAT will facilitate those teams wishing to buy 'embroidered team polo shirts' - simply advise myself by PM HERE (or by direct email to tombrady[at]hotmail.co.uk) of your requirements (shirt colour, size and embroidered wording and/or logo for LHB (left hand breast) or RHB (right hand breast)) and for a total cost of £15 per shirt they will be ready for collection at the UK Team Championship venue on Fri 31st Jan (ie the night before the team championship).

An example of the type of shirt/embroidery can be seen on the photo below (taken from the recent team shirts supplied for the ECOAP):

From ECOAP Team Day 1

We recommend for each shirt on the LHB the event name:

APAT (word logo)
2014 UK Team
Championship

and on the RHB your team name and player nickname:

APAT Forum
Irish Tom

(no I'm not playing for the APAT Forum team!)

In addition to the usual 'offerings' from Genting Casino, APAT's schedule of events for the weekend is as follows (with guestimate times of completion):

Fri 31st Jan 21:00–23:59 - max 5 x 8-handed Cash Tournament Tour (Qualifier 1 of 2)

Sat 1st Feb 13:00-circa 02:00 – UK Team Championship 240-runner MTT Day 1 £50+£5
Sat 1st Feb 21:00–23:59 – max 5 x 8-handed Cash Tournament Tour (Qualifier 2 of 2)

Sun 2nd Feb 12:15-14:15 – 1 x 8-handed Cash Tournament Tour (Final Table) (stacks c/fwd)
Sun 2nd Feb 14:30-circa 23:00 - UK Team Championship Day 2 (stacks c/fwd)
Sun 2nd Feb 15:00/17:00(TBC)-circa 22:00 – WCOAP Passport MTT £25+£5 (max 100 players 10 x 10-handed)

An example of the Main Event Tournament Structure can be found HERE.

Details of the 'Cash Tournament Tour' can be found HERE

The 'WCOAP Passport MTT' will pay out a WCOAP 'Passport' for every £500 in the prize fund (with cash payouts for lesser amounts) - the 'Passport' includes entry to the Main Event the World Amateur Poker Championship (value £110), 2 WCOAP Side Events (value £55 each), 4 nights in a local hotel (Thu-Sun) and an element of cash (TBC).

A full Team/Player Briefing will be provided idc, however if Team Captains have any questions/queries prior to this then please contact myself by PM HERE (or by direct email to tombrady[at]hotmail.co.uk).

That reads to me as an example if you wish to order through apat?
Nothing there saying that you have to, or did I miss something obvious?
Mind you, seeing as I am almost always wearing my fiso hoody, I could always do with another

I think I remember from Nuts Poker League Finals in Stoke that Hoodies are not an option.

We may need to sort a new T-shirt out if that is the case. On top of everything else that weekend, travel buy in, drinks, hotel... and extra £15 is neither here nor there.

as said, if someone else does come in who wants to play, seeing as I have played in every tourn so far, I can miss this one out as needs be
so if anyone else here wants in, let us know

if not, olive green please
Karrde wrote: extra £15 is neither here nor there.
let alone name and or logo embroidered (left and right breast as you will) and probably non-primark quality etc & team image ( being the only non-poker lot there) then I reckon it be a bargain

ps ringer - yeah I bet you are truly gutted being out there

Sure. Or we can check train fares. Sometimes works out cheaper than driving.

We have to remember this is a team event

Those knocked out early - remember to support their team mates left in.....by supporting the bar

1- social side
2- poker performance

is the priority of this weekend

i think we lost a bit of that last time

guilty as charged
in my defence your honour
and I know you mean me,
I am the self-confessed worst railer in the world combined with a self-imposed exclusion from bar last time, chels in a cup game next morn and a whole heap of work to do for me mum when so close to town
if no one else wants my place for this one, we are in stoke so no trip on to the never-ending work in london and most important of all, I am back to bar-propping :D
but as I said, if someone wants me place, it's so

In Norvern's defence, he was sharing a room with me, and probably couldn't take two nights of my snoring!!

Have a great time lads - I would like to make another one at some point in the future, but haven't had much time for playing this year, and not likely to next, so my game must be pretty shoddy at best - not like it was really any good.

I look forward to live updates in Feb!

Gents, thought I'd better let you know now - I'm struggling for this. I did have the time off work but my boss has gone long term sick. I'm trying to sort something out with work but in the meantime if someone wants the place then it's probably best to let them take it. Will keep you updated.

Premier Inn have an offer on right now for £25 a night, which includes the one at stoke/trentham gardens, which is only 4 miles from the casino and easy access from the M6.
I will be booking there, although the website booking service is currently broken, so hopefully it will be back up soon!
