Guardian/Observer blog: "Will home advantage really vanish when the Premier League resumes?"
https://www.theguardian.com/football/bl ... ue-resumes

Summary: With no fan support, home advantage has almost disappeared in the first five rounds of games since the Bundesliga restarted.

Before shutdown in Germany, 43% of games ended in a home win, 22% in a draw and 35% in an away win.
Since shutdown, it's been 22% home wins, 30% draws and 48% away wins.
Last season, by way of comparison, it was 45% home wins, 24% draws and 31% away wins.

Before the March shutdown, home advantage in the Premier League was roughly similar to that in the Bundesliga:
45% home wins, 25% draws and 30% away wins.

Just announced that an un-named Norwich player will be out of Friday's game with COVID . Feels like any transfers we have remaining (unless you are really flush with transfers) will need to be used for injuries/illness given the rapid fire nature of the games - not sure I'm going to have the luxury of jumping on too many flanges. At least players who might not always start are more likely to get game time with more subs and the games coming thick and fast - that's the way I see it anyway, but I'm no TFF expert!

2 positive tests. Norwich had just played Spurs in a friendly too. Apparently no Spurs players had "close contact" with the Norwich player in question BUT a Spurs statement said the club was following the Government's definition of "close contact" as being within two metres of a confirmed case for 15 minutes or more - which surely would not apply to anyone in a game of football unless you were man marking somebody.

Mind you, if Spurs now have a case or 2 then everyone will run scared saying the protocols aren't enough.  :|

This is quite interesting on that topic

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/20 ... -suggests/

If one infected player was on the pitch, they would be within two metres of another player for just 39 seconds per game study finds

Though 39 seconds sounds plenty if they're breathing heavily, sweating, tackling etc. Also you'd assume a centre back would stay much closer to the opposition forward than, say, their right back.

Just posted these relevant quotes on the covid-19 thread, obviously apply more to 'normal life' rather than a footie match.

"The risk of being infected is estimated to be 13% within 1m, but only 3% beyond that distance. And the study says that for every extra metre of distance up to 3m, the risk is further reduced by half." so 1m = 3% risk, 2m = 1.5% risk, 3m = 0.75%

"Scientists advising the UK government say spending six seconds at a distance of 1m from someone is the same as spending one minute at a distance of 2m."

PS Without reading the study, it suggests 39s in TOTAL across all other players rather than per player (which sounds low to me) - as you read the Tele article before it goes behind the firewall it suggest the 39s is actually an average so if a forward is infected then the CB will be within 2m for more than 39s countered by less for other players who don't mark forwards.

Interesting tweet from Guillem Ballbag about the current game involving Real Madrid.

https://twitter.com/GuillemBalague/stat ... 52294?s=19

9. @SDEibarEN prioritised next game + put a weaken line up vs Real Madrid as games come think and fast. Might not be the only one to do it

Could be a feature here too?

Pep Guardiola on Man city's fitness:

"I think we are ready to play one game but three days after another one, and four days after another? We are not ready. That’s why you have to rotate and use all the players."

Same player has since returned a negative sample. Will still miss Friday's game though.

Good to know some things don't change.

David Luiz made a cameo performance (minus 2) for me in one of my teams and I cannot see him appearing again in the next 5 weeks (or indeed next season) So I have put Southampton's Bertrand in for Friday's trip to Norwich. It will be interesting to see how many games are completed without using the full quota of 5 subs. Not too many I think. Is Aguero the most 'agonised over' player in the entire cast list ?

Some quotes from today:

To get physical condition you have to play minutes. I won't change 11 players every time, but I will use the chance to make five subs every game.

And the best will be ready to play in the cup if we are lucky to get past Newcastle and especially Madrid.

Anybody selling Leicester players in case the local lockdown affects them somehow????

Sky seem to think Saturday's game will be on, and that, if necessary, 'the Premier League still has a number of neutral venues on standby', so I'll be keeping them until I hear anything to the contrary.

Or at least until I have another illogical urge to board an ill-fated bandwagon and ditch them anyway.

I was looking to ditch soonish anyway, form and fixtures are against them.

2nd attempt at scare tactics....

What if Leicester players get ill and start spreading it....

The tactics I'd be most scared of are blowing what few remaining transfers I have left. I'd much rather keep the option to squander them at a more leisurely pace.

Had x5 left on resumption and team needed a reboot. Have now shot my load and feeling quite liberated. Happy with team, which sits in c800th position, fingers crossed for no injuries. Yes, will suffer rotation but you can't really chase that unless you have bucket of transfers left is as likely to be only for 1 game anyway.
