TFF chit chat 31st August and 1st September
SATURDAY 31ST AUGUST
Southampton 12:30 Man Utd
Saturday's early game takes us on a trip to the South Coast to see how Manchester United will get on against Southampton. Martial is out short-term and Shaw is injured til October. For the Saints, Redmond picked up a knock in the EFL Cup in mid-week. Fun fact: Man Utd are in the top 5 whereas Southampton are bottom 3.
Chelsea 15:00 Sheff Utd
The first of the 3pm matches sees newcomers Sheffield United travelling to London to take on Frank Lampard’s Chelsea FC. Chelsea haven't been very convincing so far this season and struggled against Norwich last weekend. Sheff Utd have been putting the effort in but not necessarily getting the results yet. Last weekend Chris Wilder was literally wild.
Crystal Palace 15:00 Aston Villa
Roy's Boys crashed out of the EFL Cup in mid-week on penalties to a lower league club so morale must be pretty low. Villa on the other hand scored six in the Cup and beat Everton so are on the up. Palace are one of a million teams sat on 4 points and technically joint 5th. Wesley anyone?
Leicester 15:00 Bournemouth
To the King Power next where Bournemouth are the visitors. This has score draw written all over it. Vardy opened his account last weekend and scored the winning penalty in the Cup on Wednesday. The Foxes have a good defensive enabler in Soyuncu. Bournemouth don't really do cleansheets in the league and there's a high probability that a Wilson will score.
Man City 15:00 Brighton
City welcome Albion to the Ethiad. Brighton only win this season was an away victory so Man City must be quaking in their boots. City are undefeated so far this season with Aguero and Sterling in tip top form. Jesus is out until after the IB so Sergio is nailed on to start.
Newcastle 15:00 Watford
Relegation contenders Watford travel to relegation contenders Newcastle in the Battle of the Relegation Contenders. The Hornets beat Coventry in the Cup while Newcastle were victorious against Spurs last weekend. Guessing there's not much TFF interest in this one.
West Ham 15:00 Norwich
The last of the 3 o'clocks sees the Canaries travelling to London to take on the Hammers. 'And Pukki scores' rang out again last weekend and I think Cantwell deserves a special enabler-shaped mention too. West Ham are a conundrum wrapped in an enigma or just a bit non-descript really this season.
Burnley 17:30 Liverpool
Saturday's late fixture takes Liverpool to Fortress Turf Moor to take on Burnley. Ashley Barnes is giving Salah and Mane a run for their money in the scoring charts. Liverpool are as leaky as a leaky thing at the back. Burnley were unlucky to draw with Wolves last time out and might be getting back to their 2017/18 form. VVD won some award this week.
SUNDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER
Everton 14:00 Wolves
Sunday’s early match sees Wolves, fresh from their Europa League exertions, travelling to Goodison to play Everton. The Toffees started the season with a couple of cleansheets. Wolves are in the bottom 6 and Jimenez hasn't been quite as effective as he was last season, however they have progressed to the Europa League proper.
Arsenal 16:30 Tottenham
And finally, the first London knees-up Derby of the season sees North London's finest taking on North London's finest in the clash of the finest teams in North London. Arsenal had started well but Liverpool put them in their place last time out. Harry always finds blowing doors off slightly trickier in August, hopefully he's remembered to turn his calendar over. Cheapie defender KWP might be out injured.

As next week is an IB, why not spend your free time working out the winning combination for this Champion's League and Europa League competition:

Re: TFF chit chat 31st August and 1st September
Nice one Morgan.
Since your splendid write-up was completed, Spurs have announced that their cheapie defender will indeed be out this weekend. From tottenhamhotspur.com:
"Kyle Walker-Peters has been ruled out of Sunday’s derby at The Emirates.
The right-back sustained a hamstring strain against Newcastle last weekend and is undergoing on-field rehabilitation, but is unavailable for selection against Arsenal".

I think the 3/1 for Southampton looks attractive today and it’s gone into my acca. That should be enough to trigger a ManU masterclass

In pre-season I was deciding between 2 teams, my other team had Haller and Abraham up front so I could squeeze Salah and Sterling into the same team .
