EDIT Would have been...
Jesus saves City's blushes (Otamendi, prob. KdB)

No VAR spots the Laporte handball. Disallowed by new rule and new system...

No. Only blushes for the ref who missed the infringement.

It clearly hit Laporte’s hand. Why did it take so long for them to rule it out?

Another good game of football and all everyone will be talking about is the effin’ officials. Again.

Isn’t that what VAR was meant to prevent?

Absolutely right. Imagine the whining if the handball wasnt given and it was seen afterwards.

Well, up until a couple of months ago, there wouldn’t be any whining because it wasn’t handball under the old rules.

Beginning to think the aim is to let the goal scorer celebrate for 3 minutes first. Just for the laughs.

They have managed to create a system where goals won’t be celebrated in the stadium until they are confirmed as legitimate but disallowed goals will get the spontaneous, joyous celebrations that goals once garnered. Image

Maybe in a few years time, the tv viewers will get to vote on whether a goal should stand.

The only real issue with VAR is the implementation. The time taken is indeed pathetic. I don't think it has made a mistake in our league yet though (arguably twice in Super Cup).

Scores are up. My best of 26 is only 77000th for the week.
Knew my scores weren't special but didn't think there were many popular picks scoring well.

Did anyone see the handball at the time, did the Spurs players appeal?

I'd do away with it tomorrow but the VAR officials should get credit for picking up on it at all.

As it was an accidental handball maybe the players didn't realise/remember he'd done anything wrong. I actually rewound the action to see who had the KC and I didn't twig either!

Well done to the virtual ref.

It's not controversial as they get it right everytime, more so than before var. Within a few months we will all have forgotten what it was like before var. Remember when you could pass it back to the keeper and he could pick it up? I'm all for it... Until it goes against united 😂

Sport is as much about human fallibility as it is human skill and endeavour.

Why don’t we go the whole hog and replace the players with robots?
After all, the players make far, far more game changing mistakes than the officials ever did.

If that were the case then we would say no rules do whatever you like. All it is doing is catching up with the likes of rugby and cricket.

They did. Yet everyone just talked endlessly about refereeing mistakes.

That's why this had to happen. People will still talk about them rather than their own team's failings, but at least the decisions will largely be correct.

If people hadn't been such eff babies before, we wouldn't need VAR

Nice to my no show players turn up this week: H. Wilson and Trossard. Did only two transfers in my worst team: Alisson to Heaton (maybe not my best move looking back) and non playing Guilbert (lacking patience now) to Emerson (did think hard about Burn but know nothing about him and don’t think Brighton are going to leave a 20m defender on the bench for too long). Only Pulisic and Emerson to play in some teams so not expecting much from the weekend.

I’m not sure it’s caught up with cricket. I think that DRS works well when the on field decision stands if there is an element of doubt so the umpires have more control.

Given they are both 4.6m, it will be interesting to see how the respective percentages of Pukki (7) and Sigurdsson (13) change by their next games. It's a simple swap that I will almost certainly be making before Pukki next takes to the field.

I am the negative image of this. Nobody showed up and your low score beats my best by some considerable way. Ah well....
