Zinchenko
So Zinchenko was looking like a real bargain with Mendy out for a while but do you think he will lose his place now City have signed Cancelo? And who would be a good replacement at that price? Chilwell maybe?

Re: Zinchenko
I’ve read slightly conflicting reports but I think Cancelo is a right back (Walker cover / rotation) that can play left back. No guarantees but I think the left back slot is being completed for with Mendy (always broken) and Angelino (pre-season reviews not great).
As someone has said on another thread though, Ederson and Laporte are probably the most solid City defensive picks to start most games.

Re: Zinchenko
Same as above, I think Cancelo will be right back material fighting it out with Walker for time.

Going round and round with this as well. Think I'm going to risk it.

He's doing my head in aswell. I think I know deep down he'll be rotated heavily after about 3 games yet I still keep putting in him in my team.

Re: Zinchenko
I know what you mean. Think I'll just keep an eye on that Walker-Peters fella as a replacement should that occur.
My worry, as mentioned by murf and many, is that he's currently my only City def so a real issue if he disappears.
Sort of come down to either Alisson, KDB & Zinchenko or Ederson, Bilva & Zinchenko. I think I'll stick it in RMT!

Re: Zinchenko
Think Mendy is due back for the third game so not in my teams (apart from Egg Cup).
He’s a transfer waiting to happen but could be justified as a placeholder for whichever bargain appears over the opening 2/3 weeks?

Re: Zinchenko
Cancelo has only just arrived so I would be surprised if he plays in the first game. A sub no doubt, but I imagine he would only come on if the game is won, for maybe 20 mins at the end. Would you then throw him in for Spurs at home? Or save him for a slightly less tricky fixture?
He can play in multiple positions, but with no new CB coming in I could imagine Walker might move inside on occasion allowing Cancelo at CB.
Unless Mendy sorts himself out and then stays healthy, I reckon Zinchenko has a decent chance of cementing a spot for a while. Surely he is safe for the first 2 weeks at least.

Re: Zinchenko
As expected Zinch starts but more interestingly Cancelo is the only full back cover on the bench. Probably tells us something about Angelino.

Guardiola: What I want from Mendy is for him to be fit. To be available for training sessions every week. He’s had almost two years out and he needs to play. The first target is be fit rather than to play. To train regularly for a month then he has a chance to play.

Re: Zinchenko
Is my memory playing tricks or was Mendy actually 'fit' for much of the second half of last season and either didn't make the 18 or couldn't get off the bench? Pretty sure he started an FA cup game. I don't think he'll just walk back into the team at any point this season.

Pretty sure man City never lost with Zinchencko in the team, so it makes sense to just play him until they stat changes

Re: Zinchenko
Think that is kinda what is being said. He needs to be more than just 'fit' (i.e. not actually broken). He needs to be fully match fit. Not easy to get to without playing.....Darbyand wrote:Is my memory playing tricks or was Mendy actually 'fit' for much of the second half of last season and either didn't make the 18 or couldn't get off the bench? Re: Zinchenko
Mendy is dynamite when on his game. From bits of stories from last year, I sense there are significant “attitude” issues that are getting in the way as much as the “injuries”. It’s not quite Balotelli all over again but I sense it’s not a dissimilar problem.murf wrote: ↑16 Aug 2019, 20:54Think that is kinda what is being said. Think that's also the reason sane has never been first choice, pep doesn't like his attitude. Same goes for martial last year under ole. But he's said martial has been like a different person this season, hence why he's in the team.

Re: Zinchenko
There can be a confidence/fear thing with the frequently injured, they feel every minor twinge and daren't go for it for fear of making things bad again - Sturridge (allegedly) had issues along those lines I think/hear.

Anyone who still has Zinchenko in there team, ive just seen a video of him saying he just had cramp at the end and its not a hamstring injury.
So can keep him for a while now

Re: Zinchenko
Why now? He played today didn't he? At 3.2 for one of the big 2, the occasional rotation is fine in my view. If he starts missing multiple games on the spin, with no sub appearance to offset it at all, that's time to ditch.
For now, I'd say its one to keep an eye on
