Pretty sure I entered the very first season

Was it 4 transfers allowed in a season or something insane? Or 4 stamps per transfer maybe that you had to send in for processing?

I think it was 6 transfers on a pre printed form that you had to post off, 2 at a time.

Might have been 8 and the deadline was after a few matches with Points already scored counting....

Wasn't there a phone option for Transfers?

Dec 1995, week 12. I was in 12th - rare moment of glory thanks to picking a cheap Villa mid called Dwight Yorke.

Interesting - if that's correct, then it makes one of the big 2 a complete no-brainer tbh. Having them at 4.4 and 4.5 made it more of a tricky choice.

I think my first season playing the game was 97/98 when it was run by The Original Fantasy League. The following season The Telegraph ran their own game and The Original Fantasy League teamed up with The Times.

It was definitely 'eight individual transfers at any time throughout the season' back in 98/99. They used to send out fortnightly league reports and I've still got some of them.

The telephone transfers I remember were probably for The Times game. The message went something like this: ‘Hello… My... name... is… Bob…by… Rob…son.’ It was painfully slow because it was a premium call!

Another season I think it was Graham Taylor who did the recording.

May have to fire up the dormant account of Mrs D to stick some risky block teams in. I suppose we've been saying for years that mega multis were spoiling the game. Maybe we'll get a truer game with this and the slashed prize money.

The game itself has changed alot. No championship or Europe game. Prizes well down. And no multi entries hampers chances of a prize. Hope to god they chance back to normal next season 🤞

I've always been anti-cheating and multi entering but the 5 team limit if strictly applied will destroy TFF for me as I mainly play for the side games. May encourage Mrs M and the dog to help me out.....

shame but logical conclusion to continual mismanagement by GFM and refusal to accept responsibility for it. the defender bias was killing the game, simple solution was to put scoring back to what it was or to sort by pricing. neither done as would be an admission of gross continual blunders. instead reduce prizemoney and increase GFM fees, how very tory! will play it but sun takes precedence then daily/weekend fantasy games, then sky, then tff as it slips ever further into fantasy obscurity under the blundering eyes of GFM

I'm interested in why you put the blame at the door of gfm and what your personal agenda is against them.

Since a very low percentage of TFF players have generally been willing to pay during recent seasons, the only viable choice was to go with the free-to-play option which has inevitably affected the amount of prize money on offer this season.

generally speaking the design will be the responsibility of the provider, clearly errors were made from the erroneous conclusions of surveys and as ff stuff showed the amendments had resulted in a far worse game design, the same can be said for the sky game which is also GFM run and suffers from the same defensive bent. i'm assuming as i have said before that this is down to GFM as both have the same major fault and both are run by GFM. that said reiterating past replies to you i appreciate that to some extent gfm have their hands tied by the telegraph and may be unable to comment open and freely. as i have said to you before if it turns out that the foul ups are down to the telegraph i am perfectly prepared to apologise to them. since then nothing has been said to suggest the game design issues are down to the telegraph despite ample opportunity for the telegraph or gfm to comment. if you are able and allowed to shed some light on it all that would be great, although i feel we have now arrived at a position where all we can do is shut the stable door after the horse has bolted, the time for doing anything has passed. if you have any relationship to the telegraph or gfm and are able to cast any light on it i would be very interested, despite the foregoing. otherwise with a refusal to clarify from any other source, given that sky & tff had much the same faults and that they are different entities but that GFM run both i don't think it is unreasonable to draw the conclusion that GFM are at fault. i have no agenda against GFM other than the assumption in the light of any further info from them nor anyone else that they are primarily responsible for extremely poor game design of both tff & sky up to last season from when they took them on. we now see the fruits of that this year it would seem. if you know different please let us know!

bit chook n egg really andy. they will squeal it was the sun that did it by making their game free, i'll say your appalling game design turning a good game into a defensive bore fest done it!

truth as per probably somewhere between the two, but i won't have it that the appalling game design is nought to do with the falling entries whatsoever!

There are other reasons why it has faded from only 1 Private League per team to Soshawl Meedeeeargh and immediacy etc meaning more transfers and gimmicks when this more purist game is really best with around 16 ie more than 10 and no more thsn 20. 40 is more than FPL's 1 a week and 2 Wildcards as they csn be used in batches in TFF. Toss in them chasing Manager's cash as opposed to advertisers and they have lost the plot\idea.

The format is simpler than FPL and could\should have been the No1 choice for works leagues with 20 Transfers.
