I know the TFF side games like golden boot, starting xi etc have been fun in the past but with the reduced pot the way it is IMO they would’ve been better off scrapping ALL the side games such as £50 manager of the week etc and instead go for something like £10k to 1st, £4k to runner up, £2k to 3rd so at least finishing in any of the top 3 places is a decent payout

Hardly anyone will be focussing on MOTM/W anyway with only 5 teams - you'd like to think that meant a 'normal' team doing well would get a prize but it won't as a few will still want to play and will, err, encourage their wives/girlfriends/hamsters to have a serious go.

Personally I'd have just about kept all the other prizes (except wooden spoon and the facebook type leagues) and made them token prizes of £50-£200 so 2nd and 3rd could have been four figure sums at least.

Site live as far as I can tell. Also, seems to work better in firefox than internet explorer.

Goalkeepers are max 4.5 so this does not match their own comms!

For years been on to them regards prize structure, just mailed them again , Pathetic, is what i said, fully expect this to be the last year this runs , shame but theve only themselves to blame , who makes these crazy prize structures , gone is the championship game . its really only,, win only this season.
There must be a hole in the market for a new game to come along with pay to play and decent prize money offered.

Raceylady ,, good luck all

Chrome is ok. The app is not working at all as they've admitted on their Twitter feed. When it first loads it still shows some World Cup 2018 images like the whole of last season then just goes into permanent egg timer (rotating squares). Really poor, you'd think that's the one thing they'd sort out.

Sure I got on via the app last night :?

Just get the rotating squares now on a purple background.

Have to stop moaning and focus on the positives - it is a very nice shade of purple.

I am, seriously, more positive about it all today. The game and play is unchanged (nothing worse) which must be considered a good thing. The price structure is vastly improved and will make it a better challenger. OK, the prizes are reduced but I never win anyway  . I only ran 7 teams last year anyway (and that could feel like too many at times) so if I kill the 500 (hare) and 2020 (new year) leagues I am exactly where I was but £10 (or whatever) better off if I don't have to buy teams. Always look on the Mr Brightside

Sounds like Arsenal have put in a bid. It was either a pound more than 2.7m, or 2.7m up front and a further 7m in instalments.

Sent an e-mail. got a valid response from them, its FREE , this year , hence low prize money on offer, although as i have stated very lopsided to almost win only for
a prize to be won.

Don't blame them for changing the game because no one seems to want to pay for anything nowadays.

Won't be playing though, come join me on Draft Kings.

Surprised they didn’t go for the niche market and make it the premium paid-for game. There’s enough crap free games, I don’t see the point in playing FPL and struggling for nine months just to make the top million (I tried it a couple of times, and failed miserably even in doing that I think!)

I’ll probably only enter one or two teams anyway, I’ve entered lots of teams in the hope one would get a good start and still not bothered with it past October in most recent seasons.

Currently in conversation with the Telegraph:

Hello there. Very disappointed regarding the five team limit. Myself and a great number of others play in private leagues with many weird and wonderful rules and restrictions. These teams have no chance of winning the big prizes but have allowed us to enjoy entertaining, interesting and competitive mini leagues for many years . With the five team restriction this will sadly no longer be possible. Can anything be done to remedy this unfortunate situation?

Hi Chris, can you share a few examples?

Thanks for getting back. :) We compete in leagues that have restrictions on budget i:e just 40 million, numbers of transfers, transfer restriction such as none to be used until 1st January, no players from the top six finishing teams from last season, leagues where all managers have to start off with the same (very poor) team and many more besides. As you can see it would be difficult to put one of your 5 season long teams in any of these leagues and still have any chance of competing in the main competition.

Fingers crossed.

Should have made it a nominal £1 for one entry, and then the normal packages for further teams. Allowing them to retain all the spot prizes/leagues from last year. 90% are likely to give up 2 months into the Comp when chasing in reality the one prize.

They claim 90% of players don't pay. I'd imagine the "hassle" of paying anything would genuinely limit numbers playing. We live in a strange world....

How many of the 90% would pay the nominal fee of £1 in order to continue playing TFF? We will never know. Plus we now live in a digital age where on line transactions are now the norm.

After asking for an update I've had a reply:

Hi Chris, bit of background - it was important to a lot of our players that we create a more of a level playing field for the main league / prizes, hence the restriction. However, I would also draw your attention to rule 3.2: "Managers must not register teams in other names or with multiple email addresses in an attempt to unfairly increase their chances of winning prizes. Managers found to be controlling more than five teams under more than one name in the Competition may have all teams under their control removed from the Competition and/or may not be eligible to win any prizes."
In other words, if you really have no intention of competing for those main prizes and just want to compete in side leagues with your own rules, there's no reason not to run another 5 teams using a second email address.

So we should be okay as long as we are rubbish.

Some game rules may need some tweaking as teams in something like the "Block" league could look like challengers. Hare type teams could certainly look suspicious for a while.
