TFF chit chat 19th and 20th January

Post by morganb »

SATURDAY 19TH JANUARY

Wolves 12:30 Leicester

Saturday’s early match sees The Foxes taking on Wolves in the wildlife derby. Wolves could be considered to be punching above their weight and I'm sure last week's defeat won't have dented their confidence. Leicester are somehow above Wolves in the table but are under pressure to get a result here.

Bournemouth 15:00 West Ham

The first of the 3pm games has the Hammers travelling to the South Coast to play the Cherries. Will Wilson be back on parade today ? Bournemouth look doomed without him (as Fraser would say). West Ham might be having issues with Arnautovic - either injured or unsettled due to a bid from China.

Liverpool 15:00 Crystal Palace

To Anfield next where Crystal Palace are the visitors. The Liverpool back line has been ravaged by injuries recently, TAA being the latest player to need some TLC. Palace’s talisman Wilf Zaha hasn't been firing on all cylinders recently but perhaps he's just a big match player and will shine today.

Man Utd 15:00 Brighton

Dedication’s what you need if you want to be a Man Utd manager. OGS made it six wins in a row and therefore set some kind of record. De Gea was in outstanding form last weekend. Brighton are comfortable sat in mid-table and nicely clear of the relegation zone. Murray has been quiet recently.

Newcastle 15:00 Cardiff

Who can forget that Newcastle had 120 minutes of FA Cup football in midweek? Cardiff are today's visitors and actually sit directly above the Magpies in the table. Hard to pick an outstanding performer in either team.

Southampton 15:00 Everton

Two-nil up and they threw it away... Southampton lost against FLDC in midweek after being two goals to the good. Redmond? Red-faced more like after that penalty miss. Everton are erratic of late but still have Siggy and his spiders to propel them up the league.

Watford 15:00 Burnley

The Watford rollercoaster is currently on the up and this week it's Burnley who get to enjoy the ride. Burnley have managed to claw themselves up to the heady heights of 15th so could provide a decent challenge for Watford. The Hornets are top of the mid-table teams and in reasonable form.

Arsenal 17:30 Chelsea

London's calling to say that Saturday's late match is a London derby! Arsenal’s wheels have fallen off recently and will hope the added impetus of a derby match will spur them on to victory. Chelsea have a habit of not playing with any recognised strikers at the moment making Hazard a vital player for them.

SUNDAY 20TH JANUARY

Huddersfield 13:30 Man City

Sunday's early fixture has bottom of the table Uddersfield hosting second place Manchester City at the Kirklees. Another manager bit the dust this week when Wagner parted company with Uddersfield. City won't care as they've got their eyes firmly on the prize. Jesus or Aguero? You makes your transfer and takes your choice.

Fulham 16:00 Tottenham

What's that coming over the hills - is it a derby? Yes, just like London buses you wait ages then two come along in the same weekend. Ain't no Son now he's gone to the Asia Cup. Harry's door blowing escapades will be curtailed for a while due to injury. Fulham are deep in the relegation mire but have been putting in spirited performances recently.

Prem teams out of the FA Cup - Liverpool, Bournemouth, Fulham, Leicester, Cardiff, Huddersfield, Southampton

Maddison benched too (2 popular picks I largely don't have. Mustn't risk the God of Smug this early in the weekend)

Wolves make two changes from the team beaten by Manchester City. Fantasy football legend Matt Doherty is rested to the bench and Willy Boly is suspended. In come Saiss and Vinagre.

Leicester hand a start to Harvey Barnes after his recall from bossing the Championship with West Brom. Danny Simpson and Demarai Gray also start - James Maddison is benched.

I see SLong has had his KC from midweek taken away (due to defender clearance).

Moutinho having more luck, 2 KCs so far (not watching- any 2nd KCs for Coady??!!). EDIT Seen 1st goal now, should be a 2nd KC. Not sure who but not Coady.

I wonder if Maddison to Redmond is worth doing, if he starts that is?

Oh dear From my reckoning that's
Maddison 4pts
Doherty 1 point
Coady -3
