Yip, I was all over the tantalising switch from Salah to Sean Longstaff. £2m - great value. If Newcastle don’t get through I may look a bit silly though

I had a look at the team news but (as I suspected) there was 'slim' to 'no' pickings today .... Southampton have a good run of fixtures for the next few weeks - so there could be something for tomorrow depending on team news

Sorry, totally forgot - I thought the replays were next week for some reason. Will cobble something together for tomorrow's matches onwards.

See Newcastle won 4-2 AET... Perhaps a couple of the players are registered in TFF (Joselu, Ritchie, Perez)

Bad day. All my teams scored 0.

Not so bad day. My top team didn't drop any places.

Here's a write up for the two midweek FA Cup games. I'll post up the Prem games later, perhaps in a new thread.

TUESDAY 15TH JANUARY

THIRD ROUND - REPLAY

Blackburn 2 Newcastle 4 AET

Whatever you do, don't forget that there's a game on Tuesday night! The Magpies are away to Blackburn in this 3rd Round replay. Except a changed line-up for Newcastle - my spies tell me that they'll probably play Longstaff who'll score in the first minute but then they will be pegged back at full time and will need extra time to win. Team regular Ritchie to start and Perez to score.

WEDNESDAY 16TH JANUARY

THIRD ROUND - REPLAY

Southampton 19:45 Derby

The second of the FA Cup replays features Southampton at home taking on Frank Lampard's Derby County. FLDC had a good run of results in November but have gone off the boil recently. Surely even a weakened Southampton side should be able to get a result today? Redmond played and scored in the original match. Vestergaard also featured from the off.

For those selling Kane, Southampton have 2 home games before many permanent contenders play again....

Redmond could be a permanent part of a daisy chain replacing say a Maddison. Feel Doherty offers better vfm though with clean sheet as well as attacking wing back points. But finally Saints are emerging as a football team again under Ralph.

JWP and Armstrong. Others too but doubt you’d want them.

Midfielders though - don't really want them as TFF won't let me play 460 or 541  . SLong is the 'obvious' forward punt and some options in defence too (as 'vias' for Kane and TAA replacements only)

I was very impressed with him earlier in the season so I put him in when Trippier injured his groin. In 11 games he has only 1 clean sheet but 2 goals and 4 kc's. He stays for now because he is cheap and in the cup but if wolves continue to look tired I may well upgrade.

Somebody remind me....

The T&Cs state that penaly shoot outs don't count BUT only says it in the section on keepers/defenders (CSs/saves) so.... do they count for the penalty taker? Assume not but rules don't actually say that....

I did a Maddison to Redmond in a team just outside the top 1000. Glad Derby have equalised as Redders should now get 30 mins more.

I have now bought 4 players in the last week across all my teams and 3 have been promptly injured. Be worried if you own Cedric...

Under 'Scoring points' it says ''Points are not awarded for penalty shootouts'
Where it's written it could apply to goalies and defenders only, but think it applies to all players....would seem to make more sense.

Something I remember debating last year. No points for anyone was the outcome I’m afraid.

That's a relief.....Redmond missed pen. Out the cup now though 😣

5pts for SLong. Must be a KC for his attempt that was cleared off the line and followed up.

Is that correct?

It’s been given for that goal. I can’t remember now for obvious reasons but wasn’t his header cleared off the line by a defender?

Yes so the defender counts the same as a goal post!?

'Morally' it deserved a KC (definitely one if saved by keeper or post) but not sure if so with the letter of the rules.
