TFF chit chat 15th, 16th and 17th September
SATURDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER
Tottenham 12:30 Liverpool
Saturday's early fixture is probably the weekend's biggest match featuring two of the top 5. Tottenham are coming into this game off of the back of a surprise defeat to Watford and Harry is showing signs of fatigue already. Alli (sprained fingers) and Lloris (hangover) are out. Liverpool are flying high but this will be a real test of their title credentials. It feels like Salah hasn't hit top form yet.
Bournemouth 15:00 Leicester
The first of the 3 o'clocks sees Bournemouth welcome the Foxes to the Vitality. Wilson is in good form at the moment but there are rumours that Fraser could be injured. Leicester's Maddison is one to keep an eye on, especially now Jamie Vardy is back from suspension.
Chelsea 15:00 Cardiff
The unbeaten Blues host the low-scoring Bluebirds at Stamford Bridge. Hazard has recently discovered a true vein of form but Morata is still struggling for goals. Cardiff put in a plucky performance against Arsenal last time out but have yet to record a Premier League win.
Huddersfield 15:00 Crystal Palace
At the Kirklees, Palace are the visitors. It sounds like the Eagles talisman, Zaha, could be missing for this clash (though he's back in training) and Palace don't win without him. Huddersfield are suffering from a bout of second season syndrome and could do with a result today.
Man City 15:00 Fulham
Fulham are on their way to Manchester to take on the reigning Champions Man City. There are a number of quality players in the Fulham side but Man City will probably have too much class for them today. Pep has been prone to a bit of rotation so far this season so be careful who you pick from City.
Newcastle 15:00 Arsenal
The Magpies versus the Gunners next. Newcastle are currently in the bottom three whilst Arsenal are sat comfortably in mid-table. Arsenal haven't kept a cleansheet yet this season so there might be hope for Newcastle today. Rafa is quoted as saying that Newcastle are simply seeking League survival, aimng to defend in numbers then hit on the counter.
Watford 17:30 Man Utd
Saturday's late match features a top of the table team up against a side who could be battling against relegation this season. High flying Watford are this year's surprise package so far, even defeating Spurs last time out. United are bang average with the spotlight shared between Pogba and Mourinho.
SUNDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER
Wolves 13:30 Burnley
Sunday's early game sees last season's Championship Champions, Wolves, take on Burnley at Molineux. Burnley are another side lodged in the bottom three whereas Wolves are just below Utd and Arsenal in the middle of the table. Expect the Clarets to perform better now they are out of the Europa League. Wolves are showing enough quality to be a Prem team for a while.
Everton 16:00 West Ham
Sunday's late match has win-less West Ham taking on Richarlison-less Everton. Walcott is an injury concern for the Toffees while goals are a concern for the Hammers. Could be another frustrating day for the Londoners. No bad boy Richarlison this week, which is a shame as he was on tip-top form for Brazil recently.
MONDAY 17TH SEPTEMBER
Southampton 20:00 Brighton
And finally, from Southampton it's the derby of the week! Down on the South Coast both teams featured in this fixture are level on points with each other. The match could be seen as a battle of the strikers with an in-form Murray versus an in-form Ings. Nil-Nil then!

Re: TFF chit chat 15th, 16th and 17th September
thanks to morganb for his preview of week 6, the start of month 2. My view of the 10 games is X 2 ! X 1 1 X 1 1 X. What is his ? I like his reason for Lloris being a non starter, a little different to a thigh injury from the Man U game but there will be some transfers used because of it. His team in my Tff La Dolce Vita league is DARK (private) so no way of discovering how it affects him personally. It is possible that he may tell us...... but perhaps not. It's a good read as we return to action.

I've started a thread so we can all try and win the VIP Chairmen League-
viewtopic.php?f=136&t=128965
Simple logic is that we all start a league with a team we hope will do well, advertise the codes and stick teams in each others leagues so they get enough entries to be legal (10 teams needed in each - chairman+9)

I can return from my two weeks away from football now, suitably refreshed after having spent much of that time drinking and sunning myself. All the best all

I'm hoping Zaha will be back in action very shortly, can't afford him to be injured. I notice Klopp has said there will be some squad roatation with all the games they have coming up, doubt it would be a weaker team against Tottenham.

Anyone else notice that a lot of teams have 2 - 0 over spurs or a 3 - 1? Only for the brave ... But not like Kane has been on top, top form ...

We've gone from one game a week for the top teams before the international break to two every week for the next month, so there will be tonnes of rotation going on in all the teams. It's going to be a time for holding your nerve when your guy does get a rest over this period.

Re: TFF chit chat 15th, 16th and 17th September
The stability of teams has been because of that rare lack of midweek games (usually an early PL set or 2), hence just one change in 4 games for Liverpool. This time last year Klopp was changing keeper and RB between league and CL. If it affects you then you just need to hope your guy is in the 'Premier league side' and not the CL one - and that isn't a good medium term sign!Mins wrote: ↑15 Sep 2018, 10:35 We've gone from one game a week for the top teams before the international break to two every week for the next month, so there will be tonnes of rotation going on in all the teams. I might want to wait 25 minutes before saying it but I can see TAA being rested, Matip at CB with Gomez to RB - or Clyne could come in. Moreno also could play at LB as Robertson had 2 internationals. Midfield tweaks too. Maybe not Fabinho today (after internationals) but soon. Klopp likes to pick players who had an international break (Moreno, Milner etc).
All other 'big' clubs will have similar issues so you mostly have to just ride it out or find someone less prone.

All that rotation talk and Liverpool make just one change - reversing the match 4 tweak to go back to the week 1-3 team! (Keita in for Henderson, Fabinho on bench)
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson, Milner, Wijnaldum, Keita, Mane, Salah, Firmino.
Subs: Mignolet, Fabinho, Henderson, Sturridge, Moreno, Shaqiri, Matip.
Spurs Substitutes
12Victor Wanyama
7Son Heung-Min
11Erik Lamela
24Serge Aurier
33Ben Davies
6Davinson Sánchez
22Paulo Gazzaniga

Rose staying and staying fit a bit of a pisser for Davies holders. 2 out of 5 for Rose, is Davies in the CL team?

Trump that
Fake news?! There has been no midweek PL round of matches in first few months of season for almost a decade: last was in 2009.The stability of teams has been because of that rare lack of midweek games (usually an early PL set or 2), hence just one change in 4 games for Liverpool.
Also, using Liverpool as an example of early season programme may be misleading. Although they were in Champions League play-off during first two midweeks last season, the fourth English club no longer needs to pre-qualify (as UEFA provides four places in group stage to each of four nations automatically).
Again, as an isolated example, Burnley's fixture list hardly shows "that rare lack of midweek games":
- last season, their only midweek tie in first five weeks was for League Cup
- this year, they were in six Europa play-offs on a Thursday by the end of August.

Liverpool blocks taking a hit there at the end.
Hadn’t realised Coleman was injured, guess Lukey is the obvious replacement and releases bit of cash.

Mendy could miss out today. Not seen at training and supposedly seen at a bar last night.

Got about 20 minutes for City to confirm they are suspending him for sufficient time to make it worth me switching him to Alonso!!happyhoppy wrote:Midlander wrote:What's the issue with Mendy then? Just rested?
