TFF chit chat 1st and 2nd September

Post by morganb »

SATURDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER

Leicester 12:30 Liverpool

Saturday's early fixture is the L derby. Leicester face Liverpool without the still suspended Jamie Vardy but ‘Slab Head’ scored with his foot last weekend. Liverpool appear to have a full strength squad and Klippety isn't so big on rotation this year so expect an unchanged first eleven.

Brighton 15:00 Fulham

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside - Fulham have a day trip from London to the beach to take on Brighton at the Am Ex. Mitrovic got on the scoresheet last weekend in Fulham's first win of the season. Brighton have faced a couple of the big boys already this season and have done OK.

Chelsea 15:00 Bournemouth

To get on a red bus and go anywhere - At the Bridge, Bournemouth have a day trip up to the Big Smoke to play Chelsea. The Blues are performing really well at the moment but so are the Cherries so this could be a real humdinger of a match.

Crystal Palace 15:00 Southampton

Roy's Boys welcome the Saints to Selhurst Park in the next of our 3 o'clocks. Zaha is probably the stand out pick in this one, but Wan Bissaka might be a good cheap pick if he manages to stay on the pitch. Southampton aren't great.

Everton 15:00 Huddersfield

How do you solve a problem like Richarlison? He scores, he's injured, he's fit, he scores again, you put him in, he's sent off. You couldn't make it up. Walcott flattered to deceive last weekend. Huddersfield’s season hasn't really got going yet.

West Ham 15:00 Wolves

Well what do you know - a W derby! Will West Ham be without Arnautovic or has he recovered from last weekend's injury scare? Wolves are the best performing of the promoted teams and have a number of potential enablers in their side.

Man City 17:30 Newcastle

Saturday's late match sees the Champions, Manchester City, taking on Newcastle United. This should be a simple home win but Pep is into squad rotation at the moment so could this affect the result? Newcastle could benefit as a consequence.

SUNDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER

Cardiff 13:30 Arsenal

In Sunday's early fixture the newly promoted Welsh Wizards from Wales welcome the Gunners to Cardiff. Arsenal got a good result last weekend but still no goal for Aubameyang. Cardiff actually scored a goal in the Carabao Cup in mid-week!

Burnley 16:00 Man Utd

Fortress Turf Moor next for Burnley v Man Utd. Burnley are out of the Europa League - a blessing in disguise? United really need to pick up a result here or it could be good night Mourinho. Expect a controversial 0-1 win then.

Watford 16:00 Tottenham

Harry Kane will be glad it's now September as he never blows the doors off in August. Watford are doing surprisingly well so far this season. Lucas Moura and Pereyra are probably your watching briefs for this match.

A quick plug for a game called FISODAS - if you don't already play then I suggest giving it a look:

After Liverpool acquiring a specialist throw-in coach, I am wondering if throw-ins count towards key contributions if they lead a goal?

...and does the throw in coach get the 2nd KC?

(I think the answer is 'yes' but I haven't checked the rules. The 'yes' being to redrum2's question not my own. I'm guessing that one is a 'no'.)

You'd think they'd at least give a shout out for all the subs in case their mums were watching.

PS Think Robertson should get the KC despite the deflection. Intended area and all that.

The “patient me” was going to wait until after LFC played Saints before switching to Kane for BHA on the 22/9. Still undecided especially as Spurs play LFC after the IB too. Anyone else with this dilemma?

I’m agreeing with this. Tempting to switch now but perhaps a more major tinker post internationals.

I’m thinking about Aguero / Kane hokey kokey next few games (2 for nils) then I’ll decide whether I want / need both.

Doesn't matter. Everybody has him. An injury to him would make the game more interesting.

No Zaha in squad. Switched him to Alonso. Should I do Van Aanholt and Arnautovic for Wan Bissaka and Kane tomorrow? Single entrant, used four transfers to date. Probably should wait till after international break...
