How I Did It - JJMATADOR25 story of the season

Post by jjmatadormc »

I've just noticed I have one team JJMATADOR25 doing reasonably well in the Starting XI league, having amassed 474 points.

Inexplicably however this is the team I have been most active in the transfer market with and I have already used 11 transfers.

This has improved my team by exactly 1 point as I only have 475 points in the main league.

How has this been achieved? Let's see.

Starting XI
GK Forster (best budget GK)
D Walker
D Davies
D Alonso
D Stephens
M Milner
M DeBruyne
M Sane
M Salah
F Lukaku
F Aguero

Transfers
Walker To Mikhitarian - Mickey T looking like a must have bargain
Sane To Pogba - Sane not starting, Pogba amassing mega points

Milner To Vokes - Milner not starting, Vokes looking like Burnley first choice striker at a bargain price

Stephens To Mendy - Stephens losing place, Mendy looking impressive
Pogba To Ritchie - Pogba injured, Ritchie a decent enabler

Mendy To Fermenia - Mendy injured
Vokes To Morata - Vokes no longer 1st choice, Morata firing them in
Aguero To Coutinho - Aguero car crash, Coutinho coming back

Morata To Jesus - Morata injured, Jesus has some good fixtures

Alonso To Trippier - At this point I'm past caring
Jesus To Kane - Kane will make things alright

Got a team in a similar situation (although no where near the amount of transfers). Took KDB after his slowish start which did the damage there I think.
Sane's point scoring went from hardly any to loads which would help your starting XI somewhat.

I have a team with 510 points from the starting xi. (36th place)

6 transfers later it's on 501.

I took out Walker when he got suspended in a move which never worked out and Walker eventually came back in (but lost out on quite a few points here). De Bruyne>Alli has brought me a slight deficit too I think.

You got unlucky with Mendy, as he looked good attacking wise though I question Vokes as a long term pick :P

This gave me a good laugh this morning!

I can relate to the story with one team in particular. I don’t want to boast but I’m actually 3 points better of than my starting 11 for having used 9 transfers but I fully expect to catch you up soon. Your comments about the last couple of transfers exactly sum up the way I feel about that team too. It’s dead to me.

Just noticed one of my teams has gone from Aguero to Son Heung-min to Firmino to Morata to Aguero to Morata to Aguero.

Yeah, I was all over Sane at the start of the season, very annoying the way it has worked out.

I think I can out boast you now. My team is 27th overall in the starting 11 league (593 pts) and 7,632nd in the main league (577 pts). 11 inspired transfers used.

Does this get me thrown out of FISO?

Or can somebody top that?!?

11 transfers used for a -16? That’s shocking. I do the opposite I start with a shit team but make points on transfers.

Don’t know if that warrants you getting thrown out of fiso but I could slap you with a ban of some sorts, 24 hours, a week. Let me know 😃

My best starting XI is exactly the same as yours on 593, and there was me thinking that using 11 transfers to score only an additional 24 pts was rather depressing. Thanks for cheering me up.

On a slightly more serious note, it is very easy to mess up a decent starting XI as only good moves will improve it. By contrast if one starts with rubbish teams a la Mad Dog, it's very easy to improve them.

I have no defence other than I’m not usually this bad.

I do like your logic Striker - I’ll cling to that for consolation.

Perhaps a short term self imposed ban would be the decent thing in the circumstances
