Darbyand wrote:According to tonight's back pages (i.e. https://twitter.com/BBCHelena/status/12 ... 00385?s=09 ) the return will feature 5 consecutive games each Saturday and Sunday. My first thoughts are a) that's a lot of weekend flange action b) the 2 for 0 etc isn't dead after all and c) madness not to have more night games spread across the week when the temperatures are high in July and August.
Think they are playing midweek too.

How consecutive is consecutive? If they go under 2 hours we have ugly, overlapping flanges that take hours til they are over.
Check the link, all your points addressed.

Will they still look to play the last set at the same time, or just schedule matches together where something important is at play with the rest spread out?

The Premier League season will resume on June 17 with Aston Villa vs Sheffield United and Manchester City vs Arsenal.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52833725

So if it all goes horribly wrong after 2 games, everyone has played 28 games. No reason to think that will be the case after 2 or 3 rounds in Germany.

The Times are reporting that Liverpool home games and London derbies may still be played on neutral grounds: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/live ... -57mp2tvg0

I sincerely hope this season isn't TFF's swansong, but if it is, what a way to go.

A blaze of flange glory.

All kick offs 2 hrs apart. Each game a separate flange.

Would have been mighty in the TFFO days.....

PS They should really have waited a bit longer. Under the restrictions of this pandemic I won't have my 4k TV system fully up and running til the 26th!

Really glad we jacked our league in now.

I was down to single figures and the number of flanges coupled with heavy rotation due to volume of games, I'd have sunk like a stone.

Neutral venue games...some obvious, some curious choices:

Manchester City v Liverpool, Manchester City v Newcastle, Manchester United v Sheffield United, Newcastle v Liverpool, Everton v Liverpool and the game which takes Liverpool to the title.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footb ... -ties.html

FA Cup dates have just been announced c.27 June for QFs, 11 July for SFs and 1 August for the final. 12/13 games in 43/46 days for a team reaching the final.

Fantasy Football fans across the country will be keeping a close eye on developments that will see Premier League teams back in action as early as June 17.

With matches just weeks away, now is the time to start reviewing your squad and eye up any potential changes for when fixtures get back underway. And, if the current season seems no more than a distant memory, we’ve put together the best-possible TFF XI so far to give you some inspiration. It costs just £49.3m to assemble but these players racked up some 1,554 points between them:

Henderson D 3.0m

Alexander Arnold T 4.5m
Pereira R 3.5m
Soyunco C 2.3m
Chilwell B 3.1m
Robertson A 5.1m

Mahrez R 4.6m
de Bruyne K 5.6m
Mane S 6.3m

Vardy J 6.0m
Jimenez R 5.4m

i know it's easy to complain but how long does a quick post or tweet take? am guessing no one will be making transfers til up to the wire when line ups announced...(ps thanks for posting the email Bramernic ;) )

I received the email, but could've done without it really, as all it did was shine a light on my incompetence.

Hours spent throughout the season, studying form, examining fixtures, and pondering over every transfer, when it turns out I'd have had way more points just sticking that lot in my side from day one and putting my feet up for nine months.

I think this explains why I sign up for TFF e-mails when they are so bland and unhelpful. Anyone who doesn't get them just worries they have missed out on something good.

FOMO as the youth of today would put it.

City have less league motivation than most.

Are they still in the Cup? Long time. Bad memory. Could be worth getting when it restarts.

With all that in mind, who are the teams with most to play for? Teams in each category could be changing quickly.

All to play for - league position competitive and still in the cup:
Leicester (for now), Chelsea, Man Utd, Sheff Utd, Arsenal, Newcastle (for now), Norwich

League position to play for:
Wolves, Spurs, Soton, Brighton, West Ham, Watford, Bournemouth, Aston Villa

In the garden:
Liverpool (after two games), City (cup team only?) Burnley, Palace and Everton (the last three probably in mid table obscurity)

Might mean ripping up some LFC blocks after a couple of sighters of what's going on elsewhere. Tortoises could make some big gains on hare teams running on fumes who are unable to get more than 7 or 8 players consistently on the field.
Cup draw is:

Sheff Utd v Arsenal
Newcastle v City
Norwich vs United
Leicester v Chelsea

QFs played c.27 June.

Good summary.

Shame they didn't run with the mooted idea of having the Cup games in a mass block at the end. Us tortoises could have done a hare finish!

I think Liverpool will be a 'keep' as they may go for a record score. As soon as(/if) that falters though they will join the ever increasing 'sell' . list. City are always capable of flat track bullying so may turn it on against any lacklustre teams with the deckchairs out, even if it is only in the last 15 minutes - when they can easily net 4 or 5.

I'll be studying Bram's grid nearer the time but just 13 days to go!
