Record Store Day

Post by paisleypark »

Just thought it might be worth highlighting that it is Record Store Day tomorrow.
This year there are over 220 shops taking part and 450+ limited releases available on the day.
These include David Bowie and Paul Weller vinyl and some real collectable singles and albums.
Everything is listed on http://www.recordstoreday.co.uk
Paul Weller is playing at Rough Trade East on the day and there are events all over the UK with bands and artists appearing in many of the stores involved.
If you are a true vinyl fan this is a good day to visit your local record store.

Unfortunately the local two record shops that I spent large chunks of my youth in are now gone but I will be plugging this on my Facebook plus Last Shop Standing.

The 2 shops were Loppylugs and Steven Siger Records in Edgware, North West London.

I bought new release 12"s and albums at Loppylugs and Steven Siger had stuff like great compilations from Kent and Ace records so I could get my Northern Soul fix.

That's where most of my money went in those days!!! Good times and I miss it.

Thanks for mentioning Last Shop Standing Rich as I am in that clip at 1.14.

As a matter of interest the film is on Sky Arts 1 tonight at 9pm and is worth a watch and believe it is repeated tomorrow morning and evening to help celebrate RSD.

Yes and at the time didn't worry about it as we probably hadn't sold one for years.
Regret it now as some were expensive and would have been ideal for ebay or specialist sales.
You win some and lose some.
Just back from Leeds with some nice vinyl - really buzzing out there today and I believe Berwick St in London is rammed with music lovers. #RSD13

‘Drop 1’ of RSD20 yesterday and I picked up a few records from Sister Ray when they went online at 6pm.

First RSD since Paisleypark sadly passed away. Strange that whilst I didn’t know him, he always pops into my mind when RSD comes along.

Ordered a double pack Black Sabbath pic disc online after the 6pm deadline. Much easier than travelling miles to a record shop and not getting it or even get into shop as in some cases needed an appointment.
