We are in Spain at the moment and the lidl rose is excellent quaffing wine at 89c a bottle and a decent enough red at 119c. Splashed out on a sparkling rose too at 199c. Ok you would go blind if you drank it all week but it dilutes the cost of the good stuff.

Blinking hot 39c today. Tough to leave the pool.

Without even looking at the link, the old style disdain for rose is so out of date it's hilarious.

Have often looked at Aldi wine will give it a go next time there, not really a big wine drinker, some of the wines am told are superb to me would go better on me chips with a bit of salt and wines I tend to like are looked down on by proper wine buffs, so Aldi should suit me. :D

Don't have an Aldi in Norn Iron, but from the Tesco "Simply" range - The 'Pinotage' is quite delightful at some £3.99 a bottle.

Aldi used to do a Chablis which was very nice. Don't think they do it now though :|

Went there today and bought a couple of bottles of the Toro Loco. One bloke was carrying a case of it out.

I'll have a taster tonight.

Brought 3 bottles of it myself today. Just tried it, very nice. I can see how it beat wines priced at £30-£40.

My daughter wants me to get a case next time.

Cheers for that SUZYKINS. :)

My Mrs does mystery shopping for Aldi and the basic rule of thumb for a half-decent bottle is if it's got a net on it.

Head for the metal display cabinets, usually in the centre of the store, rather than the booze section. If there's any in there they're what's known as 'Specials'. Pick the most expensive one that matches your taste - rare that they're over a tenner.

The wife claims that the deeper the hollow on the bottom of the bottle, the better the wine.

You can but I strongly suspect the glitch will have been fixed by then (although the 25% will be on for a few more days). The Tele are quoting Tescos as saying it's fixed already.
