murf wrote:Now we have confirmed Branstons are rubbish - what does anybody think of Heinz 'Mean' Beanz?

I quite like the sweet chilli ones and the mexican ones. Not too spicy but enough to make them more interesting.
This could turn into a re-run of the crisp debate. Have you ever tried the branston's ones murf? I can't believe you are rubbishing them and then in the next breath talking about sweet flippin' chilli heinz mean beanz! Beans is beans is beanz - not some sweet chilli nonsense! And as for Mexican why not just put a load of pepper on them instead?

Presumable Rich took part in the taste test Branston's refer to on their jars where 7/10 people preferred them to heinz. Yet the FISO poll is totally the other way. I am interested to know how many of the Heinz voters have actually tried the Branston's?

Makes sense as brown sauce is full of vinegar. Might try that at some point (under the daddies sauce naturally)

I looked int cupboard this evening with a view to having a tin of Heinze for comparative purposes but there were none there.

I'll be purchasing a can of each tomorrow!

Doesn't all these bean experiments you are doing off the back of something you read on some internet forum seem a tad weird to your other half?

Can of Heinz for lunch.

Sweeter and more tomato flavour.

I much prefer them.

As stated earlier I think the Branston beans are great, but the missus dished up some Branston spaghetti hoops for the kids today and they complained that they didn't like them.
"What do mean" I said "Branston's are delicious", so to prove a point I ate a mouthful with the intention of expressing how tasty they were, but I just couldn't do it. They were blooming disgusting!!!!!!!

Went back to the Branston's again for lunch (on toast with ham and a bit of grated red leicester).

Not bad but i still prefer Heinze.

Just tried them. Tasty but you weren't joking about the side effects. A can a day and I reckon I could power the central heating :?

My local Sommerfield has 'Special Edition Heinz Baked Beans with Lea & Perrins' for 27p per 415g (standard) can.

They're very nice, too. :)

It's wierd that this thread pops up... I'm about to do some supper containing some gammon ham, two slices of toast and some beans...

Always regular 57 for me although I sometimes spice them up with some worcestershire sauce, HP or a bit of garden mint.

Luvverly. :D

Well, keep your eyes open for this special edition, Dixie, that's all it is - regular 57 with w.s., but almost half price.

Are HP off the market, Barry? I'm a Heinz man myself.

I've heard tell of such a place in far-fetched travellers' tales.
But I believe them not.
