Our local price fixers (ASDA) have decided the're only going to stock Heinz beans and Branstons in 4's in some pathetic attempt to make us feel like were actually saving money  Is this the right thread for moaning about the price of tinned tomatoes too :o

I'm surprised none of the aussies have brought up the international bean question - Aussie supermarkets sell Heinz in a domestic recipe and an English recipe. this sounds like a Peter Kay script.

The local ones are EFFING disgusting.

Do you think that the beans / sauce have deteriorated or do you think perhaps your palate has become more sophisticated?

Maybe Heinz / Branston could fill the void?

sauce is shite now - probably less sugar salt fat

I like to cook mine until they form a stodgy paste and then add black pepper and barbecue sauce so the brand makes very little difference.

I think hienze sause is now more watery than before and you get less beans than you use to. Much better value for money in getting Asda own brand. 1/4 of the price and only incovenience is a can opener. Taste better than HIenze. :D

Branstons a bit strong for me. :|

You could always water them down - make them go further too.

Spiny has the right idea here, a half tin, microwaved on 50% for 5 mins should reduce the sauce nicely, add a small dash of sweet chille sauce, compliment with about 2 cm of extra mature cheddar and serve on thick toasted, lightly buttered granary bread.

Immense

Break, Shmaek, this is the busiest time, the Golf season begins, F1, Aussie rules, Fantasy the apprentice, I can hardly find the time to cook beans, never mind eat them.

Yep.

Heinz will always win. Try their Mexican ones for a nice change (thicker sauce too)

Quick Chrisharry12345 - Branston beans 3 tins for 99p at the moment in Tesco's.

Anyone any thoughts on the merits of tinned spaghetti? - they are also on spesh. Not a huge fan myself not least because it's not really spaghetti is it?

You're letting her use the car?
