tell you what ones are good - Aldi's .
I've heard tell of such a place in far-fetched travellers' tales.
But I believe them not.

beans stacked as high as the eye can see, for less than 15p a can but the till operators know not your name  beware these evil places.

their crisps are also excellent 8-)

What gets me with these places is their nationwide special offers. Last year the Netto or Aldi in darkest, dangerous Salford stocked horse tack and bridle gear!
If a horse ever got near Salford Market without a copper on it's back it would be butchered, skinned, tanned, rendered into glue and flogged within hours.
Salford market - one place you can flog a dead horse.

That's all very interesting chaps, but neither of you have answered the question of whether Branston has what it takes to overthrow Heinz? If Aldi beans are to come into the equation, please get them to burger off onto their own poll

The best bean bargain to be had is in lidle's (three tins of Heinze beans and sausage for about £1.20) apart from that sommerfield is the place to go for about 12 or 13p a can on their own brand)

Barry: Good news. mate!
There were 11 cans of HP Baked Beans in the Stornoway Co-op today. I bought 3 and will lay two down for you, for when we both make a meet. :D
I want one for myself so I can see what I'm going to be missing. :?

If you want me to go back and get the (last?) few cans, let me know asap.
They could well be the last in the UK.

Nah, there'll be a box in the back of the Co-op on Barra! :P

A few Heinz "Mean Beanz" flavours with stuff in them. I'm partial to the Mexican one.

Never liked Heinz beans for some reason, always preferred Cross & Blackwell but can't find them anywhere anymore.
Branson beans aren't bad, seem exactly the same as Tesco's beans though (not the value ones with half a tin of sauce though).

I'm eating quite a lot of beans at the moment as I'm trying to cut out the fat in my diet. Start most days with either cereals or beans on toast (grilled)

The Branston sauce was very thick and the tin was crammed with beans. I didnt dislike them but I prefer a heinze or HP style sauce. Sainsbury healthy low salt beans are ok as well.

As for the worst beans it has to be the ones you get abroad they are huge and the sauce isn't upto scratch.

Branston Beans all the way! The sauce is (IMO) much tastier and certainly a lot thicker. Still selling them 4 tins for £1 in loads of places too :D

Never had Heinz at home, we were too poor  HP were always my favourite. C&B were fine too and these Branston beans we tried years ago and were fine. I find most Heinz eaters are too stick in the mud for my liking  and are probably supporters of the big teams. like Liverpool and Man Utd. I think its a kind of snob factor. I bet these heinz people insist on Coca Cola when there's plenty of other alternatives on the market. I've always bean one to experiment, as the old saying goes, Nothing ventured nothing gained,

Do you think that the beans / sauce have deteriorated or do you think perhaps your palate has become more sophisticated?

Maybe Heinz / Branston could fill the void?
