We asked a thousand FISOers what their favourite holiday destination was and.... none of them could be arsed to answer.

Mr Pulp and Mrs Romantic Fiction enjoyed a wonderful holiday in Miami. The best thing about it was that it was free. It was a competition win.

We asked 100 FISOers which was the most historically significant; Aguero's hamstring, Sanchez's groin, or Jenkins' ear? What was the most popular answer.

1. Who does Jenkins play for?

My ex-wife and I don't agree on much, but we both believe the time we pulled out kids out of school and went backpacking in Africa for three months was the best experience our family ever had. My daughter was 11 and her brothers 8 and 6 and they still remember this 1998 adventure in exquisite detail. We used Harare, Zimbabwe, as our center and also traveled to Tanzania and Malawi, always on public transport. We went to the great national parks, The Serengetti, Nogorongoro Crater, Lak Manyara, Tarangyre in Tanzania and Hwange in Zim. In addition we climbed up to the Mulange Massif in Malawi, hiked and camped in the Chimanimani Mountains of Zim and spent three golden weeks in Zanzibar. The kids, who were good students, learned more about life and the world than they could ever have learned in a classroom, most importantly how most of the world's people live and how kind and generous they are. I am not suggesting anyone else do this, as it requires extensive planning, but it was not remotely as expensive as you would think as we stayed in backpacker's and lived relatively frugally. We enjoyed it so much we took the kids out of school for 2 1/2 months two years later and went trekking in Nepal and hit the beaches in Thailand. That was also terrific, but Africa was the best.

Nowadays, every vacation I have ever been to seems best. Stay at home sucks but it is the need of an hour.

I really enjoyed the Caribbean cruise on a huge ship. It is so huge that not even the slightest pitching is heard. There are a lot of shops, cafes, dance floors, cinemas and a lot of other entertainment. It turned out to be a cool carefree vacation.
