Need some help identifying some water colours?
Need some help if possible! I work for a charity and we did a house clearance and in the clearance were a folder full of stunning original watercolours, all signed but we cant work out the signature! I dont think they are worth much but if we can work out who the artist is we could try and trace a family member and see if they want them.. I have attached all the pictures and the signature.. I dont want to say what we roughly think the name says incase it influences what you can see?
Any help would be much appriciated

Initials I would say are W. S. (Sayers)
They are female, left handed and a smoker

They don't look like watercolours to me, they look like pen & ink.

I'd say you're unlikely to find their names without more evidence of identity though they are nice. Unlikely top selling artists unless they have other more detailed paintings as Picasso did many sketches that were valuable as well as his more detailed exhibits.

Re: Need some help identifying some water colours?
First name looks like May or Mary followed by an initial. Also looks like two surnames suggesting a female artist who got married/divorced.
Nice pictures, though could just be sketches for more detailed finished paintings.

Re: Need some help identifying some water colours?
These are not fine art btw, they are more than likely illustrations done for books or card reproduction. Quite competent and probably the work of someone who's had work reproduced in books so that may be the way to go rather than thinking of these as works of art.
