Banksy

Post by DrBunker »

I see Banksy is sticking to his "no selling out" policy!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/7662797.stm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

He says it aims to question "our relationship with animals and the ethics and sustainability of factory farming". Now, further to previous comments on the other thread about art having meaning depending on the artist's intentions does that carry over to this exhibition?

It seems to me to be fairly cartoonish, Nick Park-style humourous art but he seems to give it a superior meaning!

I can't see any reason why the idea that an artist has the right to attach specific meaning to his own work shouldn't be valid here.

Thanks for the link. I rather enjoyed that. :)

Love Banksys work, and have done for many years - but I'm not so sure about this. It all seems a bit obvious to me, and less thought provoking that his normal stuff.

This made me laugh..

"Banksy's animatronic hot-dogs have sparked complaints from people "unhappy about seeing two hot-dogs performing a sex act", he said."

Banksy

Definitely a Banksy. Posted on his Instagram page.

Has already been vandalised at least once. People from the adjoining Beauty Salon cleaned it up apparently.

yes, although the brummie guy that originally claimed it has reinstated his claim, so not quite sure whats going on.

got tagged by someone in a hoodie (on CCTV but can't see who it is) and then sprayed over with black paint, but both after the council had covered it in perspex so it didn't wreck it

there was a queue to see it this morning - thought at 8am on a Sunday it might be quiet, but seems like others had the same idea :-)

Good graffiti and street art can be really uplifting - tagging is never anything but depressing - just straight-up vandalism with no upside at all

Did Banksy leave the bike as part of it or just pick a wall where there was a wheel-less bike?

If I owned the bike, I'd go and reclaim it (then try and sell it back as part of the overall artwork!)
