FISO Bookclub
Any FISO members interested in starting up a bookclub on the forums.
I would imagine the general gist would be we all agree on one book to read, and then discuss it after a period of 4 weeks.
So the first phrase should be suggestions for the first book to read, I can then start a poll for a couple of days, followinf which we can read the book for 3-4 weeks and then discuss it in the bookclub topic.
The first book I will suggest will be Bernard Cornwell "The last Kingdom"
Any more for any more, or any people interested in seriously taking this idea further?

Re: FISO Bookclub
I'd be interested, but would want it restricted to free/very cheap kindle books. Also, 3 or 4 weeks might not be long enough...

This was actually a very good idea and I assume it only got nipped in the bud because of who posted it.
FISO seems tailor made for something like this. I know I'd be interested.

Re: FISO Bookclub
Ok I will choose a book which should be easy for everyone to get hold of a copy.
Bernard Cornwell
"Sharpe's Tiger"
The first novel in the adventures of Richard Sharpe, plenty to buy at any book store or loan from a library.
Thoughts on the book to arrive a month from today - which will be 16th March 2014
get reading ladies and gentlemen.

I'm guessing it didn't take off before because of your involvement with it so I'll decline on that one.Achiles74 wrote:Ok I will choose a book which should be easy for everyone to get hold of a copy.

I suggest we read a book per calendar month so can take the next couple of weeks to choose a book for March.
I'm sure there'll be plenty of titles that many of us have already read so it will be quite tough to please everyone.
I'll have a think and post my suggestion in the next couple of days.

Re: FISO Bookclub
Well as it is my idea, you can decline, and set up your own bookclub if you are not interested in taking part.
Thanks for the input.

And it was a very good idea but it isn't your forum and your reputation on here is, to put it politely, questionable.
On reading through a few threads you seem very good at being 'economical with the truth'.

Re: FISO Bookclub
But it is my topic, so if you do not want to take part in it, then please create your own book club and stop trolling this one.
It is very dubious that you (a new poster ahem) decided to trawl my past topics which I have created and resurrect one in the first place (But I will let that go).
However please take my advice, and if you are not trolling then start your own book club instead of utilizing this thread to create flame wars with myself.

I can get hold of most books, we could make it downloadable via a link sent by pm for those who don't have issues with piracy.Surprised wrote:murf wrote:Pick a book then folks.....

Re: FISO Bookclub
I came across this thread and noticed two large contributors to this forum had suggested 'Billy Liar' and 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' as books to read.
I did a quick search and found you've led quite an eventful life.
I'll refrain from reporting your trolling insult on this occasion but please don't make unfounded accusations in future.
Thanks
If the reason this didn't take off was because of who started the topic is there any chance a moderator can split it?

You came across a thread which was created about a year ago and in which nobody had posted for nearly a year.
Yep sure.

FISO Bookclub
It was the fifth thread down in art & literature.
I read a lot and am very interested in books.
You quite obviously aren't as you decided to abandon the thread very quickly.
I'd suggest to you that you quit with the FISO Sherlock Holmes routine. I'm not here to cause any controversy. Can you say the same?

Let's stop the pathetic playground insults
I don't give a stuff who's thread it is. If people want to take part they can. If they don't then they don't.

It was pretty good from memory but I couldn't tell you much more on this specific book and I'm not reading it again! . Read a lot of BC so thought I should start on Sharpe from the beginning.
