MANAGER Mark Hughes has revealed why David Dunn was absent from the 16-man squad for Saturday's draw with Tottenham Hotspur. Dunn, who has made 35 appearances for Rovers this season, only trained once during the week after complaining of a sore knee.
"He's got a problem with his knee, it is a little bit sore," revealed the Rovers boss on Radio Rovers. In fairness to David he wanted to play but he only trained on Friday for the first time last week so I just thought he'd benefit from having a complete rest. I could have put him on the bench, but if I did then I'd have been tempted to play him so I thought it made more sense to give him a clean break this weekend so hopefully he'll be back fit and well for the games that we've got left."

STRIKER Jason Roberts is a concern for manager Mark Hughes ahead of the visit to Anfield on Sunday[...] a slight groin strain could stop him featuring against Liverpool in the 1.30pm Sunday kick-off. Another player who is a doubt for the match against Rafa Benitez's side is midfielder David Dunn. A sore knee prevented him featuring against Tottenham last time out, and that doesn't appear to have improved.
"Jason Roberts is a little bit sore in the groin," confirmed manager Mark Hughes. "David Dunn's knee and achilles is a bit sore, but we'll have to wait on them." [...] Steven Reid is fit for the Anfield match after limping out of last week's Ewood clash against Spurs with cramp in the calf.

That makes me think there could be a couple of surprises in Hughes' selection today.JASON Roberts will once again have a late check as Mark Hughes decides his squad for the visit of Manchester United to a sold out Ewood Park on Saturday. The Rovers striker has been struggling with a groin injury in recent weeks and will once again need to be assessed before the 5.15pm kick-off.
"Jason Roberts is still troubled with a groin injury, so we are a little bit concerned about that," said Hughes. "We've got other bumps and bruises, we've got players that are not 100% but will be available for selection so we are not in bad shape in fairness considering we are four games from the end. There's guys that will put their hands up and say that they are fit and well and that is always good but sometimes you have to make decisions for them. We'll look at everybody as they are and I'm pleased that everybody has thrown their hat into the ring, I've got a big squad to pick from so it is just making sure we've got the right bodies in the right physical shape to go up against United. With Rovers having no other injury worries of note, Hughes is expected to choose from [...]
