I just clenched my cheeks and transferred Yobo out for Jags. It's so tough because Yobo could be a threat from CKs, so he's got offensive potential. But if Jags is running loose in midfield, it's 90 minutes of chance for all sorts of points plus the equal clean-sheet that Yobo would have.Billy Whiz wrote:I'm facing pretty much the same dilemma, and I'm not going to go for Jagielka ... because I'm a risk-averse cowardBumiac wrote:Just a few hours left, in a crisis to pick either Yobo (safe quality) or Jags (risky but chance of first-game strike). I'm going to leave it like this and take the risk. If Jags plays 15 minutes I'll scream and yell and bring in Yobo with my GW2 transfer.

At this late hour, having took a long hard look at probably every potential Everton starter for my various teams, i've decided i need to wait a couple of weeks to see how they're faring and lining up.
Apart from Howard of course. I feel that a lot of people are picking Howard without giving much of a nod to the defence (me included), so it's something I'll look at.
Arteta is a bit over priced in most games and AJ seems to be well out of fashion.
I know they're not the highest scoring team, but considering they're a lock for a top half finish at least, and their relatively small squad guaranteeing quick, tight rotation (especially if they have a UEFA cup run) I'll have Everton players involved at some point.
prediction: they'll get a UEFA cup spot again. Villa and Newcastle will improve, but Bolton and Reading won't hit the same heights again.

Cheers Billy Whiz. On the strength of your post i gambled on Hibbert being first choice so well pleased to see him start yesterday. Could be a £1.5 bargain.Billy Whiz wrote:Please don't make statements like that unless you know what you're talking about. Hibbert was first choice right back throughout 04-05 and 05-06 and played virtually every game for those two seasons (and most games in 03-04). The only reason he played so few games last season was through injury.rhysyboy123 wrote:What do you mean Moyes won't drop Hibbert? Hibbert has never really been first choice for Everton, and is used as backup. I should think Neville will be right back.

What do you think the impact of bringing in Yakubu (I know it's not finalised yet but lets not kid ourseleves) will have on AJ's place?
I personally don't think he'll ever get dropped or even rotated while he's fit so, depending on how much they pay for him, it'll be interesting to see if Yakubu takes the place of Anichebe after his decent start...
Could be a good pairing for the team if he does but it may water down the goals AJ gets.

Reading v Everton
"We have an injury to Joseph Yobo who we hope might be okay for the weekend but I will take Leighton [Baines] with me but he is probably a week away from being back to full fitness."
Tim Cahill (foot) and James Vaughan (shoulder) are still out while Iain Turner is another doubt with a groin problem.
Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Valente, Lescott, Yobo, Stubbs, Neville, Baines, Carsley, Osman, Arteta, vd Meyde, Johnson, McFadden, Turner, Jagielka, Pienaar, de Silva, Anichebe, Vidarsson, Jutkiewicz, Ruddy.
