also would depend on the great jt's recovery from broken toe, that might force an early return for A Cole with haim moving inside

cant wait to see what the special one does

Not far off i reckon - just stick in Alves for Johnson, Joe Cole for Robben and Ben Haim for Alex

According to the BBC site it's not that serious (hairline fratcure) and is likely to play against LA Galaxy this weekend

you would've thought that even a hairline fracture would require some time to heal properly :?

not for the super-human JT, madchester,
he played all of season before last with pain-killing injections prior to every game for injuries which have had robben or duff in hospital,
a hair-line fracture?? it would take three sledgehammers to keep him off the pitch,

as to the team,
no doubt...

cech

ben haim, JT, carvalue, cashley,

essien,

malouda and robben out wide, j cole and lamps in middle,

drogs on his own up front,

tis only birmingham after all, jose is determined to drop the team's dullard image of last season, and doesnt have the internal pressure to play shev regardless or worry over including £130,000 k a week ballack,

thats the exact 11 justin 8-)

i think mikel will be the new makelele,
but not yet,
only consider malouda and robben as wide, joe can go and round around behind drogs,
essien will make the middle secure with frank,
sorted.

I anticipate 4-3-3, Malouda could be used to cut in from the right, Cole vice versa on the left.

Cech

Ferreira Carvalho Terry A.Cole

Essien Mikel Lampard

Malouda Drogba J.Cole

* Ben Haim maybe over Ferreira

Barring no more signing, Injuries or departures, Also I'll go Cole and Ballack to be fit for the first Premiership game.:

Code: Select all

                Cech

Ben Haim Carvalho Terry A. Cole

               Essien

         Ballack Lampard

Robben Malouda

               Drogba

Subs: Cudicini, Alex, Mikel, J. Cole, Shevchenko

Definate

Post by jonsinho8 »

Cech
Johnson,Carvalho,Terry,Ben Haim
J.Cole,Essien,Lampard,Malouda
Sheva,Drogs.

Though if he goes on form, SWP could play himself in to Coles place. ?Malouda looks ready to go.

Ferreria playing rb pre-season so seriously doubt Johnson can be sure of his place

Change of plan

Post by jonsinho8 »

Ok definately:
Cech
Terry, Carvalho, A.Cole
Lamps, Essien, Malouda,
Drog and Sheva.
I think Wright Phillips and Glen Johnson will start against Birmingham, purely because it will be easier start for them and they will go in an attacking 4-4-2 to pummell them!!

Not sure Shev is a guaranteed starter.

Now that Alex has his work permit, what will the back four look like?

If Mourinho saw PSV Alexhoven play Arsenal in March you would think he would be mad not to slot Alex straight into the Chelsea back 4! Rodrigo da Costa Alex was superb that night! Imho if Alex starts regularly then you definitely want to pick 3 Blues defenders... and get rid of broken toe Frank.
Alex, in particular, showed superb form, making any observer shake his head in wonder at reports that Jose Mourinho would not consider taking the defender to Stamford Bridge.

According to the BBC as well as the John Terry problem there may be a few others.

For the charity shield match.

"Didier Drogba, Claude Makelele, Salomon Kalou, Michael Ballack, Andriy Shevchenko, Wayne Bridge and Paolo Ferreira were also out of the squad.

"It was not easy to prepare for this game," said Blues boss Jose Mourinho.

Chelsea played Joe Cole as a lone striker against United, with summer signing Tal Ben Haim partnering Ricardo Carvalho at the heart of defence in a match the Blues lost on penalties.

Striker Claudio Pizarro, who arrived on a free transfer from Bayern Munich in June, is struggling with a back problem.

And Mourinho's predicament was not helped by keeper Petr Cech, Glen Johnson, Florent Malouda and Shaun Wright-Phillips all picking up injuries before half-time against United."

Is this to be taken with a pinch of salt?

Update on Drogba's knee injury - looks like he may be out for approx 10 days, missing either 2 or 3 matches.

Also some comment about Shevchenko (+ Kalou, Wayne Bridge, Michael Ballack and Claude Makelele) in that article.
