I would guess that Jose thinks he is a bit away from being ready for Chelsea and a season with a footballing side and EL experience.....
Bit similar to Bony, so only one would play......

There is paper talk that Arsenal are thinking of bidding 35million for Williams and Michu, that would be tempting for Swansea i'm sure.
It would have to be 40million for me at this late point in time in the transfer window and factoring in the importance of the players to Swansea.

The issue for me is Michu, its very very unlikely Michu can be replaced even with the money they might get for him, Williams is a different matter, if Swansea get the top international player they were interested in according to the press [if Williams was sold], at the price being talked about for Williams and the other defender then it would seem to be a good deal, a few million in the bank after the player transfers for the defenders and Swansea would get a top international player that is 4 years younger than Williams.

If Swansea got 2 million for Williams they would be laughing.

After the 35 million pound rumours, Swansea have come out and said that Williams and Michu are not for sale, which is fine as long as the players stay on board which they currently seem to be.

was just wondering is ben davies first choice lb? is he worth a gamble or would you play safe with a pick like chico. Both the same price on sun dream team but the youngster davies seems an interesting gamble

He is currently first choice but I doubt if he will score another goal this season.Number 9 wrote:was just wondering is ben davies first choice lb? is he worth a gamble or would you play safe with a pick like chico. Chico will certainly score more points than Davies.

What a great night for Swans fans. 3-0 up away to Valencia and totally dominant. Chuffed to bits.

I didn't see it, but did notice that they were playing against 10 men for 81 minutes!Neath boy wrote:What a great night for Swans fans. 3-0 up away to Valencia and totally dominant. Chuffed to bits.
Wonder what the score would have been if equal sides

I tend to agree. Swansea played more "Spanish" than Valencia is capable of lately. Valencia is really out of form for the past month, disgraceful to watch for a club as they are. I'd say that's the new coach's fault.

Yep, they were on top for those 10 mins; Valencia should probably have lost another one and had a pen against them....Neath boy wrote:Probably still 3-0.kizkiz wrote:I didn't see it, but did notice that they were playing against 10 men for 81 minutes!Neath boy wrote:What a great night for Swans fans. 3-0 up away to Valencia and totally dominant. Nice win against Palace, what team will Laudrup put out in the League Cup ? this week, he is big on cups, but the Swans have got the Europa League to go for this season, but having questioned what side he will put out in the League Cup, he has built a squad of two decent players for every position and he always seems to make changes game to game anyway [although they do have a few injuries].

Michu will be rested I am sure.
I expect us to line up something like this against Birmingham:
Tremmel, Tiendalli, Monk, Amat, Davies (or Meade?), Britton, De Guzman, Pozuelo, Lamah, Dyer, Vasquez (or Donnelly)

How did Vasquez play at the weekend? (I was watching the other game )
Michu and Bony seem to be improving their link play with every game, imho

Vasquez was ok. Took a while to get used to the pace of the game but was involved in one goal and will improve. I suspect he will play Carling Cup and some Europa games when Bony needs to be rested.

It looks like Neil Taylor is back tonight so should now start at lb. we have also got a 17 year old first year pro in the squad. Josh Sheehan. Midfielder who I know little about but it would be good to see the lad get experience with the first team squad.

Re: Swansea 2013/14 General Chat & Starting XI Thread
Disappointed that Bony didn't start v's Arsenal, i've been surprised the amount of times Bony hasn't been picked to start, a 13 million pound [or whatever he cost] bench warmer so far ?, i had been looking forward to the Bony/Michu combo but we have barely seen it.
Perhaps Laudrup likes Bony on the bench for away games as he wants the team to play counter attacking football away from home, but he should have started him in a home game against Arsenal, people are saying they picked a team to draw the game.
Bony has been everything i read about him before he came, not the quickest, not the greatest touch and often needs more than one chance to score but he will score a bag full of goals when he plays, that has happened in his limited time on the pitch, so far 6 goals in 10 games so i have read with not that many minutes on the pitch, only one double scored, meaning he has scored in 5 separate games, his goals coming so far - 1 in the league, 1 in the league cup and 4 in Europe [Swansea have had tough teams in Europe as well considering its early doors], as soon as he came on he had an assist for Swansea's goal against Arsenal.
Swansea have now played Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal at home so i now would expect to see Bony and Michu starting together and playing in tandem in up coming home league games against - Sunderland, WHU, Stoke, Newcastle and Hull.
I wouldn't expect any playing for a draw in those games.

Totally agree with the above, but to add to that i thought De Guzman was dire, to avoid confusion, was SHITE and should of been hooked long before Shelvey. Yet the worst player on the pitch was Tiendalli by a country mile. He shud be sold after that performance as he obviously has never learnt how to kick a ball let alone cross one.
Williams will never be missed even in your local pub team. average two bob Thug. Rangel would of been bombing down that wing and sticking in multitude of crosses for Bony to get on the end of.
How Pouzelo is not a starter is a mystery too.
Reckon , even with Europe midweek, Laudrap dropped a clanger of Rodgers propotions ( 4 centre backs) in not starting with Pouzelo and Bony and not taking off Tiendalli and Guzman quicker as they both might as well of been playing for Arsenal.

Laudrup is tactically astute, i just thing he should play Bony and Michu together in home games but people recon if he played Bony and Michu up top even with Michu playing in an advanced midfield role and the fact that Swansea nearly always play two wingers, Routlege and Dyer this time, that would have left just De Guzman and Shelvey in centre midfield up against Wiltshire, Ramsey, Flamini, Gnabry and Ozil, Arsenal would outnumber Swansea in midfield, so Swansea put Bony on the bench and Canas in midfield to try and compete better with Arsenal in that area, both teams cancelled each other out with both teams going nowhere until Arsenal scored, all in all Laudrup is a top tactical manager its just i would like to see more attacking from Swansea in their home games, but how can you argue with a legend that has played for Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Ajax and Lazio.

Any views on Ben Davies? Shrugged off the yellow flag to start yesterday against Sunderland but went off after 50 mins. Will he be out for a while? Time for getting a playing Swansea presence in my FPL team...
...just read that it was after he fell on his ankle, scans today/tomorrow
