I can't understand the thinking myself, he's got rid of a proven coach in Rene Meulensteen who has helped us win numerous trophies and replaced him with Phil Neville, surely that is a bad move! Hope he proves me wrong though..

It seems very strange. Why would a new manager clear out the continuity of the old staff, which should have been the base\foundation to evolve from? It didn't appear to be Club that needed a new broom to clear out overpaid mediocrity; or have I missed something?
I see the Giggs\Neville appointments as a way of keeping the natives* happy.
*Cue jokes about IoW, Timbuktoo etc

I suppose it would seem very strange if you were commenting with apparently no knowledge of what has happened ...
Rene Muelensteen was offered the assistant manager's position by Moyes but turned it down. There isn't much more Moyes could have done surely. Muelensteen is widely renowned for his qualities and I am sorry to see him go in particular but if he fancied a change, then so be it. The staff that have been released were probably ones that people didn't rate too highly when they were actually doing the job, Mickey Phelan for instance, was often portrayed as nothing more than Fergie's yes man by many. It seems Moyes is damned no matter what he did.
I for one am not at all surprised to see Moyes surround himself with his own choices of backroom staff.

It must be frustrating seeing the friendly warm up fixtures. Setting the body clock out of sync. All in good preperation for the coming season. Are they that desperate to widen their fan base? Why, why, why do all the top clubs do it?

I bet you actually want your team to lose so that Moyes gets the boot!
Even Villa fans got behind McLeish after the initial outrage.
You're an embarrassing excuse for a fan if that's the case. Get over it and get behind your team (and manager)

No, I didn't hope we'd lose, and you're feebleminded if you think that was the case. However, it's most likely just another witless attempt by you to get a bite. You're fishing in the wrong spot, Jimbob.TheTon wrote:That record still painfully turning?Bert. wrote:Lost their first pre season game in Thailand.Bert. wrote:Two Words: David Moyes.

The sad thing for me, other than you anyhow, is the fact that the loss comes as no surprise under Moyes whereas under a decent manager it would have been a shock.
Hard to blame him, really, what attacking players would want to play under a coach so defensive he makes McLeish appear cavalierMark Addicted Kenny wrote:Oh man! Thiago signs for Bayern Munich!

General question, what's the back 4 going to look like? Well stick with Evra for now as they haven't signed Baines yet. Rafael got to be a starter, rio? Vidic is crocked isn't he?

I would imagine
De Gea
Evra
Rafael
Phil Jones - I reckon Moyes will bring Jones into the centre half position
Rio - If fit.

I'm filled with confidence at the accuracy of these predictions!Achiles74 wrote:I would imagine

With a decrepit first choice pair of Rio/Vidic, it all becomes a bit tricky and is best avoided initially IMO. Can't make any assumptions yet on whether Moyes favours Rafael and LB has the spectre of Baines hanging over it til Aug 31st.

How much game time is Jones going to get and where will he play? The Sun game have listed him as a defender at, what I consider, a good price. If he's going to get a regular spot he's worth a punt.

So Man U's pre-season form reads P4 W1 D1 L2, largely against Asian teams similar to those being routinely beaten by other tourists. SEVEN goals conceded in 4 games.
Should we (as in FF managers) be worried?
