Don't know if anyone else on here follows Mark O'Brien's website but this week's match report is particularly worth a read.

http://thisisnotfootball.co.uk/2014/01/ ... rangers-0/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
As for Alcaraz’s rooky sidekick, Stones, well, despite all the goals and long stretches of immaculate Everton football the highlight of the match was his telescopic-legged tackle on Matt Phillips that left the one-time Everton target flat on his face while the whip-thin young defender strode forward like Paolo Maldini with a look on his face that said, ‘Oh yeah, that’s what the Stones is all about, bitches, you better get used to it’.

the fact that Martinez wanted Stones for Wigan last Jan will also work in this lads favour....add to that the fact he got motm in a game we won 4 nil speaks volumes about his performance at the back

Cheers Tedbull, an excellent read :D

My personal fav extract:
Mark Hughes’s post match observation that amounted to ‘they twatted us at Goodison the other week so we’re not complaining’ summed up the high regard this Everton team are held in by the rest of the Premier League..

McGready (sp?) is reportedly having a medical.

From the little I have seen of him I rate him quite highly.

And Robbie is known for raiding Scottish football; and yes I know he isn't there any more

It's more generally reported that he has today signed a pre-contract with finalisation and his move to Everton set for July 1st.

As regards your spelling question mark, you could try dropping the r, or more interestingly changing the a to an e.

Sky Sports reporting that Nikica Jelavic is going to Hull City

Sky Sports News ‏@SkySportsNews 4m
Breaking News: Hull agree a fee with Everton for Nikica Jelavic

So I guess that means that Lukaku is definately keeping his place as the main man up front for the whole season

Martinez said he would only let Jelavic & Heitinga leave if he had replacements lined up, so I'm hopeful there's atleast one striker coming in. Also, I think the signing of another wide player (Ince?) would free up Mirallas to become an option upfront.

Yeah, Mirallas might be an option, but as you said, then we need some more players anyway. Another question is, what will change next season, assuming that Lukaku goes back to Chelsea - Kone will take his place or will there be something like you suggest (with Mirallas up front) - of course, that's for another transfer window not this one. Anyway I really hope this transfer window turns out as good as it was in the summer

For me it depends more on who will get in his place, because I don't think Jelavic was really that bad, at least not in the beginning, when he just started playing for Everton. As for Heitinga, who is being mentioned lately as a candidate for leaving the club - there I dont care who we get in his place - I have seen so many games where he just gets yellow cards and makes mistakes, that I can't wait for him to be transferred out :D

When Jelavic arrived he looked amazing. Since that initial 10-15 game run he has been awful for 18 months :(

Heitinga isn't even starting when we have our 2 central defenders injured so his days are numbered. Like you say, I don't think many Blues fans will lose any sleep over that!

lots of rumours onn twitter and everton forum re mcgeady

Aiden McGeady undergoing a medical at Everton this morning. The Ireland international will then be paraded at Goodison for the Norwich game.

EDIT: Just gone onto one of the EFC forums I frequent and one of the ITKs there (genuinely does know a lot of the tfer activity before it happens) has said it will be a good week for Evertonians........maybe were signing James McFadden (again  )

double edit - Greg O'Keeffe ‏@GregOK 3s
There's strong possibility Aiden McGeady will be unveiled before kick off at Goodison . #EFC have agreed to sign him now rather than summer

Rumour has it Baines and Barkley new deals will be officially confirmed soon

and Lacina Traore (6ft 8in) monaco striker to come in on loan. So both our strikers will be loanees, hopefully Martinez is just saving his ££££ for a big money signing in the summer (or he has something up his sleeve)

as it stands (and yep im getting in excuses early) we could have the following team out injured

Coleman, Alcaraz, Distin, Oviedo
Pienaar, Gibson, Barkley, Deulofeu
Kone, Traore

just no injured goalie (i hope), and assuming jags is ok

"Reports from the Hertfordshire hospital confirm that Everton's Bryan Oviedo has a clean break to his fibia and tibia."

:(

Gutted for him, gutted for us, but feel extra bad with the world cup looming.

Interesting that McAleny was on the bench today. First sighting since his leg break at the end of August. Offers Oviedo a bit of hope in that he was back in training in under 5 months, though I have no idea how his break possibly differs from Oviedo's.

And in lighter news.....

youve got to hope that Traore isnt our last piece of business given the injury and possibly JH going (again!). What i did find interesting though is JH is the only centre half ive seen talking to Stones, positioning him and moving him around....

Baines must like his Tuesdays and Wednesday evenings mostly at home with the family, maybe its his age.
Barkley may be more ambitious
