Any cardiff fans out there have a view on what the starting 11 might be from that lot?

Re: Cardiff 2013/14 General Chat & Starting XI Thread
Cardiff are my second team and if I had to take an educated guess based on last season plus new signings it would be something like:
Marshall
Brayford/McNaughton/Connolly, Hudson, Turner, Taylor
Noone, Whittingham, Mutch/Gunnarson, Kim Bo-Kyung, Bellamy
Cornelius
Whittingham is the penalty taker and the main free kick taker.
Kim Bo-Kyung looked like a decent player in the 2nd half of last season and in my formation would be the most attacking of the 3 central midfielders.

Hi all Cardiff fans. Who do you think will be first choice CB alongside Caulker?
Will it be Hudson or Turner?

Not a Cardiff fan!
However Brayford, Caulker and Hudson. Taylor suspended for first game so McNaughton I expect to start at LB.

Re: Cardiff 2013/14 General Chat & Starting XI Thread
Cardiff vs Man City - 25th August
Taylor will return to leftback after suspension. At rightback against West Ham, Connolly didn't really impress so I would imagine that Brayford will have his debut vs Man City. Caulker will start and next to him will be either Turner (played vs West Ham) or Hudson. Both West Ham goals came from the goalscorer being allowed too much space near the penalty spot so Hudson in for Turner would not surprise me. On the other hand, Turner is bigger and so might be more useful vs Dzeko.
In midfield, Medel will start but Gunnarson didn't have a great match at the weekend. However, Cardiff are not spoilt for choice with defensive midfielders and Medel will be run off his feet if he's dealing with the Man City midfield on his own - I'd back Gunnarson to start, though I think I'd rather see Jordan Mutch play there.
Further forward, Bellamy had a bit of a shocker but will Saturday's captain be dropped in Cardiff's televised opening home match against the club Bellamy left? Surely not. Whittingham did enough to start again, Kim probably didn't but surely will (as potentially Cardiff's most creative player). Campbell could also play as a wide right forward, something he did at Sunderland (though never to a high standard, in my opinion). I don't see Mackay doing this from the start though there is a chance he will play Campbell over Kim.
That leaves one place to fill; Cornelius was Cardiff's first big summer signing and could be in line for his debut. It depends on whether Mackay thinks this is a good game to introduce the big Dane into English football, or go with the nippier and more experienced (but very different) Campbell.
My guess at the lineup vs Man City, though not specifically what I'd pick, is:
Marshall
Brayford, Caulker, Turner, Taylor
Medel, Gunnarson
Bellamy, Kim, Whittingham
Cornelius

Nothing like an injury, I think he'll just come in to the team from time to time. He's the skinniest footballer I've ever seen so there are games where he'll get eaten alive.Mike_ wrote:Mark - Do you know what's happened to Noone ?

Re: Cardiff 2013/14 General Chat & Starting XI Thread
Bellamy is the current captain on the pitch though I'm not sure how much longer he deserves to be starting. Hudson is the club captain, but for now it's Caulker and Turner at centreback and they'll probably remain the pairing unless there is an injury.goldenrookie wrote:Hi there is caulker likely to be captain this sesson or will Hudson get a run? Whittingham is on penalties, he shares free kicks and corners with Bellamy (but Whitt is more likely to take a direct freekick).

Went to watch Villa and noticed a few things today that you do not see from watching MOTD
Medel Christ he is carrying some timber, but plays the simple ball everytime and looks like he has a footballing brain.
Campbell Why does this boy not start?

Re: Cardiff 2013/14 General Chat & Starting XI Thread
Any Cardiff insights into Whittingham's recent absence? Is he out of favour under Ole? Any chance of him getting a look in soon?
Also Turner at centre-back? I noticed he lost his place to Hudson briefly but Hudson's now injured, Cala then stepped in for him last week but they lost 4-0, today Turner Cala and Caulker are all playing. Any ideas to Ole's first choice centre-backs or is it a mystery to all?!
