I already had a beard (goatee style) before lockdown (have had one since 1997) but have still been shaving around the sides. The beard itself is probably a bit longer (and therefore more grey and stragglier) than usual.

Used to shave every day but since my own personal lockdown (jacking in work a few years back) I've let it drift to every 3 days or so. Any more and the grey bits are too visible!

Too late to start on a beard, don't want to look like a young person trying to look like an old person!

Had a beard for about 5 years now. started when I had a job in Iceland for a couple of weeks and my razor broke on the way over. didn't seem worth tracking a new razor down when everyone else had a beard, and I've kept it ever since.

it did get a bit wild a couple of weeks ago (think Joaquin Phoenix in 'You were never really here') but I've trimmed it back a bit now :-)

Don't Iceland sell razors? But yes, it must be cold on their check outs 😐

It seems everyone has grown a beard and it doesn't suit a lot that have. I particularly can't stand those big bushy hipster beards. Like walking round with a birds nest attached to your chin.

I'm staying clean shaven, aside from the burners. Stand out from the crowd 👊

I have managed to unpretty much stay clean shaven, bar the goatee thang.

That has almost inspired to launch a "what do you think FISOers look like" thread, as I now have you as a fatter, balder cross of olde John Peel and hippy from OGWT 8-)

Karrde posted the Poker gang, which was very scary, imho.

I was more worried that Spiny was a successful ZZ Top groupie, especially keen on drummer Frank Beard - giving a new meaning to the phrase "I have been Bearded since 1982".

I've been growing one during lockdown. Mostly because I've never done it before and its something Id like to do once in my life. Along my journey Ive become an ambassador for www.thebeardstruggle.com beard care products. I use their oils and balms. You can get 15% off using my code ALANADAIR15
Use it, don't use it up to you. Products are great though.

Not beard related but adjacent...

I've always liked the barber ritual but as a no.3 all over person I think I'm going to have to sort myself out - no cut for 3 months+ is looking a bit tragic.

Any recommendations for decent, but cheapish, clippers would be greatly appreciated :P

I googled clippers and any known brands were all sold out. Loads of cheap ones out there but scared enough of me or mrs m attacking my hair that I don't want to compound it with cheap tools!

Yeah - tempted just to shave it all off with scissors and razor - it would only be a week or twos growth to get to where I normally am anyway. Going to have to think on it as once I start I'll have to go the whole way.

Just get them, they are only a tenner, lol.

I've used them for decades now, and tbh cordless are far better, but if you only want some for a month or 2 then get those in the link. Wahl are a reliable maker of such things.....

I normally have a no 1 cut and did it myself last week with a normal shaver but won't do it again without a clipper designed for the job.
