Almost like a Twin Peaks with zero humour, irony or cherry pie.
I really enjoyed this
I will admit the ending was shite. Really looking forward to the return of Twin Peaks next month. Hopefully it will not be a huge letdown.

Anyone catch this? Started on FX last week... I enjoyed it.

Not sure why, but I'm getting undertones of Flight of the Concordes; maybe it's the hapless and pathetic lead.

Either way, 1 episode in, I'm ready for more.
This has been quite good. Just on Season 2 now (guessing it's an old US series as they've run both series back to back.

A bit FotC
A bit Partridge (and Lynn)
Maybe even a touch of David Brent thrown in.

Hapless, pathetic and a bit cringey.

One of the best holidays me and the mrs have had was going round Tasmania in a campervan and have been to these locales so I'm some what biased but yeah, I quite liked it - apart from the ending.

Sadly, Twin Peaks is making it look like a Tour de Force of TV. Its nigh on unwatchable garbage now.

I have enjoyed large parts of Twin Peaks but it has been hard going at times. Episode 8 was nuts

Can't give up on Twin Peaks but it has been mostly garbage.

(The) Nine Inch Nails playing The Roadhouse! What? Why? Great but...

I'm still plodding through S2 of Twin Peaks.
Still can't work out of its absolutely terrible or genius.

It's my favourite show on tv at the moment. I have seen 4 episodes and can't wait for the next one. I must have a go at reading the book.

I gave up on this after one episode. I thought it was only ok. Maybe I should have stuck with it a bit longer.

Watched about 5 episodes of Handmaid's Tale. Initially had great potential but I've started to get a little bored.

Not sure if it's already been covered but I'm about 4 episodes into Designated Survivor; really enjoying it so far and well worth a look for those that like political thrillers (with a bit of Jack Bauer mixed in!).

The Deuce set in 1970s New York and centres around the prostitution and porn in the City. David Simon (of The Wire) is involved too.

First episode/Pilot was well done and I'm looking forward to watching this.

(First episode was on Atlantic last Tuesday, so I dare say must still be available).

Watched the first two last night.

A bit too much Klingon with subtitles for my liking but other than that, was very watchable.

Will definitely stick with it.

"You know nothing, Robert Catesby..."

Kit Harington stars as his real-life ancestor and Gunpowder Plot mastermind in the imaginatively titled BBC mini-series Gunpowder starting this weekend, will be interesting to see if this is any good...

Season two finally finished.
I’m still undecided... is/was it genius, or just really really cheesy with some terrible acting?

The weirdness/surrealism was completely bonkers and probably what kept us going - but again, did that just offer them carte Blanche to run with a shite story?

I see I posted this in the summer (didn’t realise it was that long ago we started). I guess that’s kind of telling in itself and the fact we haven’t gone straight on to S3

Sky Atlantic’s Britannia starts tomorrow... with their track record of original commissions I expect it will be a poor GoT wannabe but will reserve judgement!

It's pretty lightweight at present but you never know

Catch-22 comedy based on the book and seems to have a stellar cast.

Thursday C4

(I remember really enjoying the book, but couldn’t tell you one tiny detail about it off the top of my head)!

Got that one marked already. Book is truly brilliant (long time ago but I do remember bits). The old film was said to not do it justice so I've never watched it. I hope George C. Looney and co can bring it to life properly

The trailers for catch 22 have been shown here in NZ and look good. The clip with sergeant Major Major's promotion looks like how I remember the book from all those years ago. Looking forward to this ( or I will just read the book again).

Good series on Sky 1 at the money called Frayed.
Comedy (without it being the canned laughter affair).

Just come across this thread - not sure if this is allowed but if any of you are on Facebook I run (am admin) a box set and TV series review group where I rate finished series out of 10 and give a wee review. Alas I only do this when I've finished a series so most are older shows. I'm an addict so currently have 50 shows on the go at least on a rotation so it does take me ages to finish a series.

Any way you don't have to be friends with me - just be on Facebook. Anyone can request to join my group its not public as I was getting spammers posting crap so I now have to approve new joiners and I delete any spam posts and block poster so filter out any bs.

Here's link to the group:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1752780988380325/

Genuine peeps most welcome.

You don't binge watch then?

Have to admit I do now. I generally watch up to date stuff but often just after the series finishes. All on terrestrial/Sky. Usually 'tape' it rather than download.

Really hate it when I have to wait a week for the next episode if anything. How times have changed....

Yeah, I get frustrated with “once a week” series now, particularly when it’s something I’ve binged previous series of (probably added to by the fact that often such series will have jumped the shark or at least passed their peak a few seasons in anyway, but you’re hooked enough to keep watching!)

I don’t tend to have more than one “on demand” series on the go at a time, though sometimes a few things I’m watching on a linear TV basis.

Nothing more annoying than catching up with a series, watching 3-4 seasons of something in a month and then having to wait a week for new episodes halfway through a series.
