Basically for programmes that are brand new and therefore don't fall into the 'Don't miss the return of'

Anyway, 4 series starting in the next 8 days on Sky that may be worth watching.

Girls 10pm tonight (Mon 22/10) Sky Atlantic

Arrow 8pm tonight (Mon 22/10) Sky 1

Elementary 9pm tomorrow (Tues 23/10) Sky Living

The Last Resort Starts (Tues 30/10) *Not sure which Channel or time will update later

Not sure if I am looking forward to Elementary or dreading how bad it might be!

Already a thread on Hebburn which started last week, not sure if there is a repeat or if you'll have to resort t'interweb. Well worth checking out.

Also forgot to mention this one

I saw Girls while I was in the US and really quite enjoyed it. Don't think it will be everyone's cup of tea but the lady that wrote it (and is the main character) is very talented and is likely to go on to pretty big things.

I would suggest watching a couple of episodes and you will either be hooked or, if you don't like it, then give up as it is unlikely to grow on you.

2 decent looking new series.

Danny Baker's great Album showdown.
BBC4 tonight 21.00
You can't whack a good bit of nostagia, especially when it involves old vinyl.
First of 3 episodes on consecutive evenings.

The Alternative Comedy Experience.
Look out for Dobbie from Peep Show, and no Michael McKintyre, that to be worth watching.
Comedy Central tonight 23.00.

Definitely looking forward to that tonight. Part of a series of programes based around vinyl/albums I believe.

Very interesting hour, I knew DB was an ex music journo, but he has an incredible knowledge of music from the 70's & 80's.
Clarkson looked a bit out of place though.
Now its comedy time.

Tonight at 10pm on the backwater channel More4, a new series called Nashville, created by Callie Khouri, the Oscar-winning writer of 1991 movie Thelma & Louise. IMDB give it 7.2 out of 10.
Now I detest country-music, but I did enjoy a film a couple of years back with Gwyneth Paltrow, Country Strong, and this sounds a bit like a spin off.
I will give it 15 minutes and see if it pulls me in.

A Dublin based crime drama starts tonight on Channel 5 at 10pm.

Stars Robert Sheehan, he was very good in Killing Bono.
Worth a look.

I can definitely recommend it, massively popular here in Ireland where we are all eagerly awaiting season 4.

Quite good but I spent half of it trying to remember who was who from the book

I'd heard the cow getting it was pretty gruesome and it was!

Certainly got potential there.

Took me until the last episode to realise Littlefinger from Game of Thrones was in it

I didn't even know it was a book until I saw the trailer to this.

Yes the cow made me curl a little, I must admit. This is the kind of series I really enjoy, though. Atmospheric and weird that only the Americans can do really well. Has a similar feel to the last series of Torchwood which was filmed jointly with America and Wales.

Trying hard to think of the very, very long American series a few years back (C4 I *think*), when aliens that lived underwater invaded during a hurricane... anyone? A one word title. Had a lovely blonde American lady in it who used to be married to the hero, who was now married to a lovely dark haired American lady. The police chief was a fairly well known actor who turned out to be one of *them*

I stuck with it hoping for a second series and it got canned.

I recorded it. We're still catching up on older series so will let this build up (hence why my comments on the Returned and Homeland threads are so out of date! :)).

Now I know it's got a second series we'll give it a go soon hopefully. The only negative of doing it this way is missing out on the discussion on here as ppl watch single episodes.

Which has annoyed Stephen King's fans as the book couldn't really have a sequel

A bit like House Of Cards - when the author (Michael Dobbs) went on to write the sequels based on the TV series' ending rather than his own (which killed off his 'hero' FU)

The widow* is the lovely Ruth Bradley.

*She's actually the dead lads sister not his widow.
