Banshee is back for a 4th series, watched the opener today, and not too impressed.
Stotyline is getting weaker, and trying to squeeze a dead character back into the plot is very flimsy.
As I liked all 3 series up to now I will give it a couple more.

Game of Thrones, series 6

I doubt this needs flagging but here it is nonetheless. Oh, and I don't think the time is that of the first showing somehow...

they're showing the first one 'as live' with the opener on sunday night in the states, on at 9pm as usual as well.

Apparently from those who saw it at the press premiere, most of the footage in that last trailer (that I currently can't link to) is from the 1st episode.

Flaky Brann and the White Walker looked interesting - he looked a bit older too but, from memory, he was AWOL for the whole of the last series so that isn't too surprising.

The episode info says 'Jon Snow is dead' and he looks it but is that just misinformation to counter the rumours that he lives? Can't see how he could have surviced but do we really know nothing (about) Jon Snow???

He was. We watched series 4 in 5 days last week and was a bit surprised to see him not crop up at all.

I loved 2 so much I waited until 3 was done to watch. Started S03E01 at 9pm last night. Finished S03E06 at 03:11hrs
Absolutely top notch TV. I don't get the love for "The Fall" when there is this for comparison....

I've only seen the first two episodes of this series, as I always seem to be busy on Thursday night's lately. Really need to get caught up though, as I've heard nothing but good things. not that I'd expect any less!

It was a little slow (so very similar to the first episode of series two), catching up on events during a two year gap since the end of the previous episode.

It is very good, the evolution of their arranged marriage was engaging and they tend to have a theme across a series so each episode is different with them carrying out various actions to reach the end goal. It's not lacking in tension either whether it's with what Russia wants them to do or about the CIA getting closer to finding them.

Season 1 and 2 are on Amazon Video FWIW.

House of Cards might be one on the shows we move onto once we clear off a couple like Breaking Bad (yes, we've STILL not finished that!) and Mad Men.

I've not even started Breaking Bad, I got given it digitally about a year and a half ago and have never got round to it.

I have just watched the whole set of Luther recently. Simply brilliant.

I've had it downloaded for absolutely ages and whilst it is entertaining I have to confess that it's not drawing me in like some other shows. It doesn't seem to have aged well but I keep hoping the build up to the apparently excellent ending will convince me.

Hmm, turns out ITV Encore is a Sky only exclusive channel so not available on Virgin. I guess I'll be watching this through less conventional means as I had to for the last series.

The final series of Wallander was back yesterday btw, should be on iPlayer.

Finally got round to watching S2; 4 episodes in, captivating viewing but I'm mega confused (and not remembering big chunks of S1 isn't helping).

Just watched it, having never seen it before. Mrs m and I both thought it was dreadful. The storyline didn't grab me but the main flaw was Wallander, he was just a dull, charisma-free zone. Is he supposed to be like that or is the supposedly good Kenneth Brannagh actually a rubbish, wooden actor??? He certainly didn't act very Swedish - or very police like.

Won't be wasting any more of my life on that over-rated tosh.

I've not seen the latest series and tbh I'm not that bothered but it's surely unfair to judge it given you've only just started watching it considering how many series have already happened? You've missed a lot of the background that led his character to be he way he is.

That said, having seen plenty of grumpy old man comments from you on earlier pages of this thread (in trying to answer my question above) I'm not sure you'd have like it anyway. ;)

For a non-GOM comment I'll say I am currently enjoying The Tunnel (Sabotage - 2nd series) although am a bit behind as only just started and watched 2. Enjoyed the first series, possibly helped by not being 'tainted' by any comparison with The Bridge which I never saw any of.

GoT is as good as ever too....

Ah, yes. :)

We did enjoy it but I'm not too sure what actually happened. It's very much not a fast moving, action packed show so it needs to be 'enjoyed' in that way but it did seem to get quite repetitive. I liked the storyline with the cop whose dad built the dam but the stuff in the flooded zone was more than a little odd.

Looking forward to seeing how this pans out in what, even by their standards, is a very ridiculous storyline.
