I suppose it's a budget thing with Netflix originals

You may notice a lack of battle scenes in most of the episodes
BBC must have decided to bail on it after the first series in 2015 and Netflix have picked it up along the way.

Hope it will be available to mortals too.

Loved the books and the series was quite good in a 'could have been worse' way. Wasn't overly sold on the actor bringing Uhtred to life.

2 excellent horror movies on Amazon Prime -

Train to Busan 9/10

Zombies on a train. Love Korean movies - actually bother with a p!ot and less explosions.

Hell House LLC 7/10

Found footage documentary about a haunted house. Well done scares on a budget

Also watched 1st episode of Victoria with the wife. Enjoyable royal romp 7/10

Bait is quite a tough watch but very worthwhile

The extreme violence and grim story line reminded me of Dead Man's Shoes

9/10

Directed by Dominic Brunt but this is nothing like Emmerdale

The Invitation has been on Netflix for a while now

Slow paced drama with an intense ending - a reunion of old friends with an unsettling undercurrent

I like films where you're not sure what's going on and what's going you happen in the end

8/10

Infinity Chamber is a thoughtful anf gripping sci-fi tale

Another where you're not sure if it's reality or fantasy

Has a great deal of looping - I've read reviews complaining about the repetitive scenes.

As mentioned before, sci-fi seems to get a rough ride on IMDB 😊

8/10
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3839880/?mo ... _=m_ft_dsk

Another looper currently on Netflix is Triangle

More of a horror flick where the main character is trying to get out of the loop

Loved this one too - 8/10

Anybody vouch for these... probably going to go off the IMDB rating, in which case, can anyone argue a case for something instead of Dark?

Dark 8.7
Altered Carbon 8.5
Ozark 8.4
The Sinner 8.0
Manhunt: Unabomber 8.2
El Chapo 7.9

Went for Unabomber in the end. 8.5 I’d say. Well worth a watch.

If you liked Mindhunter you’ll like this I reckon.

Part Mindhunter, part Cracker and a tiny hint of silence of the lambs.

Go through a bit of a roller coaster with the two main characters. Won’t say any more; not so much a spoiler but not wanting to influence feelings.

Sounds good Zim

Hopefully the snow will help us get through some of the Netflix & Amazon box sets

Getting stuck into Hell on Wheels series 4 and fancy a trip down memory lane with the X-Files too

Watched over the weekend Money Heist, it is a Spanish Netflix original series.
I thought it was cleverly written and thoroughly enjoyable.

I'd forgotten how utterly brilliant Stalingrad is

Outstanding, moving stories of Russian and German soldiers and two women caught up in the stand off

Definitely up there with other great war movies - Downfall, Dunkirk and Saving Private Ryan

Showing now on Netflix

Caught up on Better Call Saul discussed in the non-Netflix thread. Very good (I like it more than BB... but maybe I’m trying to justify the fact I was never part of the BB love in).

Anyway, 3 episodes in to Ozark. So far so good. Story seems good and some decent characters bubbling under. A tiny bit of annoyance at a few of the ridiculous events so far... but happy to ignore for now.

Creep 2 is a rare example of a superior sequel

Not one for the family but fine adult viewing if you're into serial killer movies.

Unlike the original, this one has minimal murder and concentrates on the egotistical murderer and his interactions with his videographer.

Jim Jefferies (comedian) has 2 of his shows on Netflix currently, he is absolutely brutal and takes no prisoners.
I can see him being like Marmite; love or hate him-don’t watch with the kids!

I like him, have seen him live once (about ten year ago).
Are they stand up shows or I seem to think he made a series a couple of years back.

Altered Carbon 8.5
Excellent - 9/10

Got a Bladerunner vibe - one of the reviews mentioned that it plays like a movie. Big budget engaging sci-fi - nice

Already announced they're doing another series (but not book 2 Fallen Angels, given the budget requirements) Anthony Mackie as TK this time round.

I think stick with it.

You can do them in any order... so Maybe skip to the latest series (where there are bigger budgets).

It does get a bit samey - but if you don’t like it after a couple more, then might as well skip it.

2/10 😳😂

Was on ITV2 ages ago. Quite good, maybe deserved more hyping (ie not losing on ITV2) but for some reason wasn't. 2nd series stretches credibility a bit. Usual issue of having to stretch a succesful idea beyond the original concept/storyline.

I stopped looking for this in\after season 2 I think. A few stick out: Prime Minister having some form of sex with a dead pig, (who would have imagined that?) and the human robot thing in the loft as being very very good, and almost pilot's for proper and good films. However, there was a lot of pretentious, but more importantly vacuous tat that wasn't worth wading through. (Was the Reality X Factor kinda thing before Hunger Games? There was a similarity to my aged, fading memory, with an unnecessary whack of smart ass (shite) Brooker ass-wipe non-parody, which Black Mirror was better without, imho.)
