Just logged on and it is telling me I have one free transfer for this week. Looks like it is ready to go with no extra wildcard.

Still saying "wildcard activated" here.

I hope prices are frozen until everyone has had official notice of the wildcard.

That's weird; checked again and mine is definitely not.

Mine says wildcard activated too. When I look a the tournament info it says 3 wildcards in total instead of 2.

You simply have to give the free wildcard because of the Villa vs Sheff U early rearrangement. That would have caught many off guard and unfairly so.

Disagree. In effect it's one match rearranged and they award an extra wildcard? That gives them licence to add as many wildcards and change as much of the rules as they like. I'll be playing less next season because of this cavalier attitude to changing rules midway through a game.
EDIT - just had an email from fanteam re teh german monster this weekend, but no mention of changes to the main game despite being told yesterday they would send a message out - wonder if they are having second thoughts due to feedback?

i presume if they want to they can simply roll back the clock and set at that point in time, the IT team seem very good (they must be to have avoided all the potential lash ups bar before the czech game) or very lucky! ;)

the main issue for me is the destruction of trust and integrity of the fanteam brand. if they can change in play rules clearly the wheels have come off!

regarding the changes it seems they want to try and be fair and are happy to break rules in order to do so. whoever has done this clearly has an extremely limited grip of seasonal fantasy games as they have created considerably more inequality than they have solved.

for me the real effect is i no longer trust them to run seasonal games professionally and effectively and as things stand will be unlikely to play any games that are not one offs in future, they are no longer trustworthy in my book.

their recent tweaking of rules bit by bit is all very reminiscent of the telegraph completely ignoring issues raised and destroying their game from a really good fantasy game to a 4-5-1 stodgefest no one really enjoyed and we now see the game a shadow of it's former self.

whilst i would be very tempted to play draft kings as my main game if the nutter trump wasn't still at large i still prefer to play an 11-player game. having said that i much prefer draft kings scoring methods.

for me it is a 'watch in brief' at present i am looking closely at draft kings and thinking of playing more. i'm looking to see what happens in the short term before contacting IBAS over the wagers on the game. i'll still carry on for now playing the games even though they are getting progressively worse. but if we stay as we are i will probably quit all the season games as covid seems likely to disrupt next season too.

they seem exceptionally high handed like GFM always were and like GFM are damaging their own product. like GFM who presumably banned me from facebook for posting video showing errors in scoring it seems they have taken down two forums in discord and have removed constructive but critical comments from me and another well known fiso member, so assume others are affected in the same way.

the games are still good even if deteriorating, the real issue is a loss of trust and integrity by fanteam.

sorry blockhead but that is a nonsense!

games get rearranged due to fa cup and odd postponements from time to time (weather etc).

changing the rules of an 'in play' game once people have signed up for one set of rules and paid their money is a complete and utter 'no no'

far worse is 'stealing' a transfer from those with 2 to come!

What about all the players who have returned from injury during this long break like Laporte, KdB, Kane, Son just to name a few of the more high profile names?

A wildcard is required to bring them all back in - those who saved the wildcards now have an unfair advantage by being able to bring in all of these top players when originally Son and Kane were out for the season.

This is like a new mini-season starting and you always get unlimited transfers before the start of the season on any fantasy football game.

Many of us saved the wildcard to use tactically, there is nothing "unfair" about that advantage, utter rubbish.

The problem is not the extra wildcard. It is the potential lower value of the retained wildcard. The only logical time to use a wildcard is now (probably) so giving everyone one reduces the huge value of the existing one.

I had used mine. And I had not tooled up for MC v Arse. So I am probably a winner here. But if they rescind the wildcard and reset teams back in time then I am more than happy to accept that.

it might feel like it and i know what you mean, but the FACT is it isnt!

nothing in the rules says it is. will always be advantages n disadvantages with injuries some may have more crockings but there is nothing to stop you from taking hits.

anyone without a wildcard left for the 2nd half because they chose to use it shouldn't have it!

shouldn't magically appear if the leaders cry over not having one left!

the rules in seasonals are there for a reason, so everyone knows how the game is played.

what about those with two transfers left who held back last round as they could see a break coming?

instead of having it to use they are penalised by holding back by LOSING IT, that is grotesquely wrong.

not only is this 100% against the rules it is also totally inequitable.

if they go ahead they deserve all the damage it will create to their long term credibility and integrity.

anyways IBAS can decide

If I knew Laporte, KdB, Kane and Son were all returning from injury at the same time (which is basically what is happening here with all being back for GW 30) - then I would have most likely kept my wildcard too.

Not sure how you can't see that is an unfair advantage - you get to wait for all the best players to recover from injury and bring them in with no deducted points, whilst those who used the wildcard expected them to be missing for most of the remaining games and hence believed the risk of using the wildcard early was worth it.

yes and no.

yes i can see it's bad luck.

but it's the same for everyone in that respect.

you can reshape your team as carefully as you like taking hits.

its pretty obvious losing a transfer saved is 100% wrong it's pretty obvious changing rules mid game in a pay to play is a 100% 'no no'.

quite apart from the issue of rules which i know cummings fans will ignore lol it is pretty clear changing the rules is materially more damaging to anyone who has played 'softly softly' than it is to anyone tearing off!

anyhow i'll put it in IBAS hands monday it looks like someone independent of us needs to look at it, who knows what they will decide.

Email from FanTeam:

'Finally – the news we have all been eagerly awaiting!

The Premier League have confirmed that the 2019/20 season will restart on June 17th and is especially good news for those still in the hunt in our €250,000 season game.

As you are aware, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a lengthy break in the Premier League schedule, but we are glad it’s back and hope you are too.

We have received lots of fantastic input and questions from Fanteam players in our season games during the downtime; with most asking how and when we will restart such leagues.

Our users have not been able to make free or points-hit transfers each week during the lockdown to help keep their teams fresh for the return, and now find themselves with teams which may require multiple points-hits.

Like you, we didn’t know if the Premier League would overhaul their existing fixture schedule for the return. This left both us and our Fanteam users uncertain of what the fixture schedule would look like once the league reopened.

Because of the lengthy break, several Premier League players that were out injured ahead of Gameweek 30, have now recovered and now back in the game. At the same time, some players that were fit before the break are now injured, struggling for match fitness or could be out due to sickness and self-quarantine.

Therefore after lengthy discussion and consideration here at Fanteam HQ, we have decided that the only fair solution for all season-long entrants is to add unlimited free transfers to teams – but these are only valid until the Aston Villa vs Sheffield United game kicks off at 19:00 CET on June 17th, 2020.

We are doing this as a goodwill gesture to ALL season-long teams, in extraordinary circumstances

Unlimited free transfers
You will now see the change on your season teams as ‘Wildcard active’ which expires once Gameweek 30 has started. This is equal for all users and those that have not used their second wildcard will be able to use this for Gameweek 31 onwards.

Please note - we have NOT removed your saved wildcard.

Many participants also used their final wildcard just before the Premier League came to a halt ahead of Gameweek 30, so, to those that activated their wildcard then, please note that those wildcards will be re-issued and available to use from Gameweek 31.

This is no ones fault and force majeure, as events were beyond anyone’s control. Instead of letting a majority of players restart with a suboptimal squad, we have decided that the fairest solution is to give everyone a pass, as explained above.'

completely crass sadly to dump rules without thinking it through.

hits are there to sort this out, either it is the same comp with the same rules or a new one.

totally wrong legally and equitably doing this as transfers carried forward are lost and rules changed on a pay to play game 75% of the way through a comp.

tbh you can't get much worse than this and they now have no credibility with me in anything bar daily/weekend comps. i fear this seriously damages their integrity and that of their games going forwards!

we will see what IBAS have to say about it.

the other question of course is if the champions league recommences do we all start again in that?

you can't just keep making things up as you go along or do what a few mates want.

if you want to do that then don't charge people to play, when they pay they expect it to be as per rules.

starting to think the best course is to abandon both comps and refund entry fees which i suppose could even be the IBAS judgement.

I assume (I think we all know really) IBAS won't want to get involved, or claim it's not in their jurisdiction. If they do make a pretence of showing interest then force majeure would get them "off the hook" as far as not having to take action. Re earlier posts suggesting those of us still holding wildcards would have had "unfair advantage" - well that advantage was not unfair, and indeed planned for as opposed to your strategy of making transfers earlier. And now fanteam have removed it and given you back, in effect, an unearned bonus set of transfers. That's unfair but i'll still work around it and try to find a way to win a prize or several.

I planned for those teams with an extra game each still to play. Mac/ars/shu/ast. Not rocket science, and the mac/ars match was all set up nicely before things ground to a halt. A pleasant surprise for me when the fixtures put the extra shu/ast match at the front of the schedule, not so good when fanteam decided to change the rules. Still I guess I have an "unfair advantage" in being psychic, and being able to add numbers up.

one thing they should address is to give the transfer carried forward back the following week rather than 'stealing it' but to be honest changing the rules of a pay to play seasonal 75% of the way through a game has already tarnished their image and integrity sufficiently to make them pay for it in lost entries going forward.

in these difficult times both financially and in terms of uncertainty how many will risk them making sensible decisions or still being around to pay out at the end of next season? i certainly don't want much exposure to the vagueries of fanteam going forward on long term wagers nor do i want to risk large sums in a firm scrambling around making constant changes or cancelling overlay contests. lets hope things settle down but i for one won't be trusting them to either hold a large amount of my cash going forward nor to make sensible decisions next season should the second wave of the virus make another break in a season necessary.

are you guys sure IBAS will do nothing, i would suggest contacting them https://ibas-uk.com/2019-20-season-long-football-bets/ note in particular 1) The rules that govern the settlement of a bet are the rules that were in place when the bet was struck.

fanteam are members of IBAS, note in particular that fanteam are breaking the very clear direction to member operators.

I would imagine any bets palced on individual matches that should have taken place by now would be refunded as non-runners. No reason why this form of gambling should be any different.

not sure on that one, say individual games, placed before the break but after it. that isn't however a seasonal bet.

seasonal bets have not been voided see IBAS directions.

those that had placed fantasy wagers on games that were postponed were refunded i believe, suspect you are correct re individual games in the 'same boat'

this is however a seasonal game.

The official FPL decided to act exactly like Fanteam and present every team an additional WC. My first impression is this is the best choice in this situation.

Couldn't care less about Fantasybet since they voided their UCL Season game and just returned the stakes. I believe in PL and Championship games the prizes were paid based on the result at that point. What a load of BS for the seasonal UCL players who had put a lot of time and effort during the group stage and at the beginning of the playoffs.
