Rumour has it that 1st pick is just the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

Here's mine. Not convinced by the number of potential non-players, but at least it made me realise I had my phone's red light filter turned on accidentally.

I found myself thinking, it's such a curious quirk of the Draft rules that nine of us get 15 picks, but Stem only gets 14 because he is eternally betrothed to Phil Jones.

I'd share mine but I'm not sure my forward line is brave enough to endure the derision that would ensue. :?

Oh, what the hell...

Alisson, Henderson
Aké, Chilwell, Coleman, Rose, Zinchenko
David Silva, Fornals, Lamela, Pulisic, Son
Gray, Jesus, Murray

Strengths: A pretty decent midfield and a vast array of left-backs that even From4corners would be proud of.
Weaknesses: The very real possibility that Glenn Murray's bones will turn into dust at any given moment.

Yeah I like that BB, were you near the middle of the draft order? I think that's the place to be in the larger drafts as you get two bites at the premiums. The benefit of being near one end is you get two picks in quick succession, so you get a better idea of opportunity cost on your first pick.

I'm not sure which is better really, but you definitely get a better sub keeper (not that it makes much difference) being near the front of the draft.

Apologies for turning up just in time at 7.59 and not in time for the pleasantries.

Happy with my lot from 2nd pick although I had first pick last year, chose Salah and sunk without a trace.

Keep, Foster
Robbo, TAA, AWB, Sanchez, Mee
Salah, Moura, Ozil, .Lingard, McGinn
King, Wesley, Deeney

Strengths: Liverpool trio, defence in general is good
Weaknesses: other than Salah, my attack is ropey at best.

I have calculated how much our squads would cost in regular FPL.

baganboy£101.0m
Archy£ 99.0m
Mo Bot£ 99.0m
Stemania£ 98.0m
From4corners£ 97.0m
dino1980£ 96.5m
Tall Paul£ 96.5m
Pirlo's Beard£ 96.0m
Mav3rick£ 92.5m
Zimmerman£ 91.5m

As we can see, baganboy has gone wildly over-budget with his squad. He is currently being investigated for breach of Financial Fair Play rules, pending suspension of his league status. It would be such a shame if you were kicked out of the league, baganboy, and were forced to turn over the likes of Agüero, Pépé, and Rashford to the league administrator. 8-)

Zimmerman, by comparison, is working off an absolute shoestring budget. And it's nice to see Mav3rick near the bottom of a table for once. Any table!

“I said yesterday, we are not guilty until it’s proven. This club makes a big step forward with the investment [we have made]. Can you do that without top players? No way. Money helps to buy the incredible players we have, yes.
“But [regarding the investigation] we wait, if we’re punished we accept it. But I listen to my chairman and my CEO , they give me the arguments for why we are under investigation and I trust them.
“They tell me we are fair and we absolutely follow the rules, I believe them. If the opponents and contenders think it’s just about the money, it is OK.”

Yes, Bang in the middle. 5th, I think. Last time, I was at 8th, and I thought it was okay. But I can well imagine 1st would be worse. There just aren''t 20 175-point players in the league, but there can be 15. And the drop from 160 to 130-odd is steep.

With my picks, there is a bit of hit-or-miss about a few. Wil Aguero stay fit? Will Pepe be good? Will Bournemouth taper off? Will Joe Gomez be first choice? Will the Ole-revolution actually happen at ManU?

Draft positions also attached now, seems like the middle 4 spots correlated to the higher team values, while those on the edges of the snake ended up lower in TV terms. If that makes a difference we shall see :?

Out of interest, do you think going for Kane over Salah 1st pick (so prioritizing a top striker in a 10-person draft) worked for you in the end? Maybe easier to judge after you experienced how it shaped your squad in real time? Certainly raised a few eyebrows.

Yeah I think I had to take a striker first pick. With no captains the difference between Salah and Kane is reduced and my second pick (20th pick overall of course) was Martial as the best midfielder left. If I'd done that the other way round, I'd have been left with someone like King as my primary striker, so I think the overall combination is better with a premium striker taken in the first couple of spots.

That's very interesting, Mav. And my team value should probably be around £3.0m lower as well, because if I was picking more sensibly I would have gone for a nailed £6.0m/£6.5m forward instead of Jesus.

But alas, I am not a sensible man. :?

What's wrong with picking Salah and having King as your primary striker? I'm not going to be last again am I?

I think another factor is that you also have the 21st pick so if all the good attacking players have gone you can compensate by going for the top defenders.
