Big Fat League - £20 entry, 16 teams required - CANCELLED

Post by Tacalabala »

If you'd like to enter a 16 team league, no more no less, put your name down and I'm sure we can agree the rules, prizes and draft time between us.

The proposed game will be run by me and I will also hold the prize money. You should familiarise yourself with the standard disclaimer.

Neither did I haha if we can get the 16, we'll decide on the format. Let's face it, it'll be set-and-forget in terms of transfers as the pool of players left will be pondlife after the draft as taken place.

The stats are dark and full of errors.

If we reach a good number of players I'll play. I'm not really up for another small, paid league though, so put me on the "definitely if we reach 10 players at least but otherwise not" list :)

League rule suggestion:

The most interesting part of draft game is the draft process. However, for those who has low pick priority in first draft round, they do not have enough premium choices. When someone pick Salah, Aguero, Kane, Sterling, Aubameyang,Mane..., he will keep these player in the whole season even when they get injured. The transfer market pool is so boring with the lack of good players, the game will not be so competitive.

So I suggest a rule: After every gameweek, everyone have to transfer out one top-point-player of his team --> there will be a mini-draft every following gameweeks . The low ranking teams will get good players to compete with others, the game will be more interesting.

To force people stick to the rule, we will have penalty, for example players who vilolate it will not get prizes.

With API the official site has provided, we can get must-transfer-list and transfer status easily (I can help if you need it).

I'm interested, would suggest you make the format H2H to keep more players interested for longer. H2H just suits the draft game better in my opinion.

Too many in one league for me but if you end up getting 8 or below then I'm looking for one to join. Just prefer to have a bit of control over the team rather than set and forget myself. I'll be keeping tabs on this to see how the 16 teams go and what the teams look like though.

Just feel that usually a few drop out early with only 8 teams as they don't have enough players in the pool to feel they can turn a bad start round. Not sure how it will go with 16 teams .

My gut instinct is that it will be atrocious... but would the fact that basically everyone will have 1 premium player actually make it more interesting?

It might be quite competitive?

Has anyone played in a similar sized league?

Regardless, it ends up quite dull because the cupboards are bare, you wouldn’t have any need to be looking for swapping anybody out on a weekly basis (because there’s is literally no one left)?

That's it mate. It could work but it's a total lottery. Imagine having 6 playets injured ( easily done if there is noone to bring in . You are effectively down to 5 men . Not saying it will not work but I'm intrigued.. the draft will take about 6 days too lol.

Could you split the league's 2 x 8 and work somthing out that way Taca. I appreciate it's your time I'm toying with here though and it takes time to administer. I loved your idea last season but shame we couldn't get the numbers. Maybe a smaller version of that. Tell me to pi** off if I'm jumping in where my opinion isn't wanted

Anyone played draft with trades? They changed it so they only go through it 50% of players agree or admin allows it..never played a trade draft?

You still have the 'All Trades' option where they go through automatically and can't be vetoed by anyone.

We played with the 50% option in the First Draft League last season, but nobody ever did any trades.
From the discussions I saw on the League threads here it looks like it was the same for everyone else as well. Nobody seemed to be able to agree on a trade that was worth making.

Ah ok mate, thanks for the info . It sounded intresting any way. I suppose you ain't going to lose a player that people want because that player is bringing in the points which is not always easy to find in a draft especially one with very few players left in the pool

Other than the TFF draft I organised at work in 1995, I have never played a draft game so do not fully understand how it might work. But in terms of keeping up interest:

- use the US system where whoever is last gets first pick on new players entering the league
- or every 4th week (say), every player to nominate 2 players to lose, and then have a re-draft with whoever is last picking first

I am up for a draft, if only to get a feel for the process :)

Surprised at the interest, I actually thought nobody would be bothered!

As Talkie Toaster said, what we're finding is nobody trades anyway, so that being the case I'm thinking we may as well run a league where there's no trading options haha yes, it's a lottery, but I anticipate it being very tight - 1st in the draft has a second pick at #32 after all!

Unless we get the 16 by next weekend, I'll have to knock this on the head. I'm starting to doubt whether there are even 16 active forum members to be honest
