Terrier Ramone extends his lead even further. Some big scores are going to be needed in the closing weeks for anyone to have a chance of catching him.

Nothing so far in Free-Agency.

This format doesn't particularly well suited to Blank GWs - basically can't sell any big assets (Aguero, Ozil, etc in my case) because you might not get them back - namely for the doubles, and similarly with many midprice defenders/mids.

Terrier Ramone disappears further into the distance and should still be able to field half a squad this week without any changes.
Quite a scramble as most other managers try to pick up BGW players, and I expect it will be the same next week to get rid of them for DGW players.

I didn't even remember setting up those waivers so they were a surprise to me (especially so as I missed the waiver deadline too today due to consuming chocolate eggs rather than considering FPL).

I'm sure that TAA to Mendy seemed like a good idea two weeks ago

Mav3rick has an excellent week with 78 pts and eats into Terrier Ramone's lead. TR's lead though is a buffet table and Mav is just past the egg sarnies and onto the pineapple & cheese on sticks. He'll need a good appetite to get to the jam & cream sponge.

40 points the gap and three weeks to go. Tough ask, will need a 10 point win this week really to finish the cheese and pineapple sticks (and I don't really fancy my side that much) if I'm to reach the sausage rolls and mini scotch eggs.

By the time I got to the buffet table all of the cardboard plates had gone.

It's been an interesting season with draft. I don't know how many of you will be playing this format again next year, but it's been entertaining and I hope we can re convene the league next season.

With multiple drafts on the go, there's usually something that goes well in any FPL week, so that's a good advantage of the format!

Thanks so much to TT for keeping the weekly updates going. In truth, TR has had the league won for some time but it's been good trying out different things to try to bridge the gap.

Its a shame that the forum chat doesn't really follow draft that much. I guess it's the nature of it. If there are any ideas for the structure of the draft forum next season that would be good. I doubt we need separate forums for RMTs, leagues and general chat at the very least...

I think you're right about it being the nature of the draft game - every little group just gets on with playing their own game which isn't really of interest to anyone else so not much chat is generated by it. General chat about players and teams is already covered in the main fpl and other FF forums and discussion of draft strategy and rules can only go so far.

I get the impression from posts here that there are more people playing draft, but not regularly posting as it is in leagues with non-FISO members. So the only chat we're seeing here is for the exclusively FISO games.

I think it's probably worth keeping separate forums for chat and leagues but the RMT forum does seem to be redundant.

I too would like to see this league continue next season so hopefully there will be enough interest for it.

robot overtakes Stemania in a bid to be the least obscure of the mid-table.

Talkie Toaster has a power surge and is within touching distance of 2nd-last place.

So the final results are in and there were no position changes in the final week, although Mav3rick made a fantastic final effort to catch Terrier Ramone, coming up agonizingly short.

So congratulations to Terrier Ramone for being the first first of the First Draft League. A worthy champion who has hung on with a terrier-like grip to top spot for many weeks.

Thanks to everyone for playing this season and keeping it competitive. It seemed like a bit of a slog mid-season, but there was some excitement in the end.
I don't know what we're going to do with our Friday afternoons now that there are no more waivers to check and free-agents to rummage through.

Have a good summer everyone and hopefully we can do it all again next season.

Outstanding documentation TT.
One thing I'll be curious to further break down also when I'll do something similar for the Regulars one I played into:
I figure the Transactions are those submitted, as you can see them tallied in a team page.
I'd be rather interested in the successful ones.
Although I figure you can only get them by opening each team Transaction history, and counting them (or copying the list into excel and letting excel count them ;))

I'd forgotten that the fpl totals also included the failed transactions.

Here's the table with the successful transactions in brackets.

It didn't take too long to count them manually actually. :)

Interesting, I'd have said the red Xs were more...
So, the runner-up had almost 3 changes per week, the 3rd placed a bit more than two, while the winner only made 17 changes to his team all season, less than one every other week

No one of picked Salah for their first pick,
im sure its a disadvantage to set the auto pick because you cant adjust with the knowledge of the order of the draft or in response to what others pick as the draft goes on, i joined two leagues one a H2H both in my own timezone and did the live draft and won them both, but this draft has been a fun time in esteemed company - thanks for the game and well done Terrier Ramone for being the first first of the First Draft League.

A point that I had made about draft positions earlier in the season based on my knowledge of previous tff drafts was that when we tried to establish the ideal position to draft the positions just before the turn were often the best ie 2nd/ 3rd or 6th / 7th in this draft with qst/8th next best and 4th/5th the worst places (as a guide)
And these results nearly highlight this well.
Would be good if someone could work out the optimum posision from all the fiso drafts.

It probably looks that way because my weekly updates might not pick up all of the Free-Agent signings as I only included those that had gone through at time of posting, which was usually Friday afternoon.

I think the winner came into a very strong line-up (Salah, Sanchez, Sane, Bellerin, VvD, Son, Trippier, Lukaku) and stuck with it while everyone else was scrambling in an attempt to catch up.

The stats are dark and full of errors.

I purposefully left myself with rotational spots in the defence, so that will have contributed to my transaction total. I'm not sure it really helped, although that's probably because I failed to nail the selections in midfield rather than anything else.

I had late draft positions in all the draft leagues I played so never really had a chance of owning a tier 1 striker, some analysis of the draft order and finishing positions should be doable, even globally, if I were to program my site to run through a few hundred thousand leagues.

It would be interesting to know if there was any correlation between league winners and draft position in leagues of a consistent size, but I don't think any pattern found would necessarily point to an optimal position... More likely, I suspect, league winner/draft order would correlate to the point where Salah looked a good pick.

In essence, I think draft order is probably only an advantage if we have perfect information before the season starts. One thing that I do know for sure is that pre-selected draft lists put you at a disadvantage, you really need to react to the available player pool.

The concept of being near a boundary, and thus having two transfers in quick succession is interesting, initially I can't imagine it makes a difference, but perhaps being able to strategise two players at a time is something of an advantage.
