Re: Muhammad Ali
We use the word legend to describe much lesser sportsmen. For Ali, that word barely describes his impact and achievements in sport and culture in the 20th century.
Rest in peace, The Greatest.

Re: Muhammad Ali
Reading the stuff this morning I didn't realise just how long he had been banned for - around 4 years at his peak. Take that break out (and the delay in getting his form and title back) and he was world champion for a span of 15 years bar a defeat and rematch victory v Spinks in 78.
RIP a true legend.

Muhammad Ali
He was my first sporting hero and I didn't particularly like boxing (still don't). He just exuded charisma and the later Michael Parkinson interviews are some of my first TV memories.
It was only as I got older that I discovered what he stood for outside of the ring and my adoration of him grew even stronger. The man was a legend and I must admit that for the second time this year, I've shed a tear at the death of somebody I've never even met.

Re: Muhammad Ali
Surely the most iconic sports personality of all time, and one of the 20th century's most significant figures in any walk of life. I'm not quite old enough to have seen him fight live but was aware of the legendary status he had from a young age. He had all the talk but, unlike most of the many imitators and pretenders, was able to back it up in the ring and far beyond.
