Really enjoying Mazzy Star's new single (new album is out Sept 23)

Goldfrapp also have a new album out (monday). A return to the haunting and ethereal sounds of Felt Mountain rather than the disco/poppy records that followed

Finally… brace yourselves… Charlotte Church

Been listening to the soundtrack to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, and decided to buy 'BONK' by Big Pig and Gathering of the Faithful by Shark Island.

Just over 20 years ago since Nirvana's In Utero was released, so I've dug out the old CD and given it a listen. The music seems just as raw as ever. Hasn't dated a bit.

How time flies....

Kurt's image seems just as popular now as then. Arguably the last true rock star.

Yeah. Great album. I never really listen to Nevermind anymore, but In Utero still gets played.

Within Temptation - Paradise (what about us) ft Tarja

Released yesterday, cannot stop hitting the replay button. Sharon den Adel is surely the most beautiful singer in the world.

RIP Phil Chevron

(he went on to be a Pogue and this song went on to be a Christy Moore standard)

A new band discovery for me this year, and this has probably been one of my favourite tracks over the last couple of months.

Thought Forms - Ghost Mountain, You And Me

And another. The side project of Bunnymen Will Sergeant & Les Pattinson.

Poltergeist - Your Mind Is A Box (Let Us Fill It With Wonder)

Impressive from Will and Les, but I liked the stuff they did when he went AWOL doing September Song. (OK I knew the replacement singer  )

Bobby Womack, Damon Albarn, Mos Def, Mick and Paul from The Clash. An interesting stage full!

I remember it too - was glad Google/Youtube found me that rather than just the standard vid.

Looking forward to Alvvay's debut album coming out later this month.

Isn't this just a perfect slice of guitar pop heaven?

I'm also more than happy to stick this one on repeat, too.

New one from PSB - Public Service Broadcasting unveil the video for the first single from their upcoming second album, 'The Race For Space'. A brassy, funk-heavy superhero theme song for the most famous man in the world at the time, ‘Gagarin’ reveals a new side to the band – not least their considerable dancing skills.

I'm not sure I want the new album to reveal too much of this "new side" of the band......can we have some more of the old side??

When I first heard this on the radio, without knowing the artist I guessed that it was possibly a new one by the Fleet Foxes as it seemed similar-ish in style, partly because of the vocals. Massive coincidence then really, as Joshua Tillman aka Father John Misty IS ex-Fleet Foxes, but was actually their drummer...

Father John Misty* "Album of the Day" on Radio 6. Not bad, not as dull and boring as Fleet Foxes but I still won't be getting it.

When putting the radio on this afternoon, about the 3rd song I heard was one of the album of the day tracks from FJM (a little investigating and the track was called 'True Affection'. Was surprised at just how different it was from the above track. Definitely an artist to investigate further, but I imagine his work is all over the shop!

I'm happy with it...this is a belter. Starts slowly but firing on all cylinders before too long
