from memory, the First Aid Kit tracks were on at 19:20ish, 19:45-50ish, and maybe 20:10ish.

Edit: yes, 20 mins, 46 mins and 1h 11.

I was ready to be impressed. (Admittedly, I tend only to know new(ish) songs for the few plays between them being impressive, and played too much. Laura being a prime example.)

Laura (as in Bats for Lashes)?

Like any radio station, if you listen for too long, you hear the same songs too much :(

Bats for Lashes - Laura
The Cat Power track
XX new one (which REALLY annoys me)
First Aid Kit - Emmylou

The other two tracks First Aid Kit played were really good though (one a Simon and Garf cover).

They tend not to overplay songs as much as the 'standard' stations though, largely because they're always finding so much new stuff. I'm still enjoying Laura as it was a grower that I was not keen on to start with, same with the XX track.

And aren't scared to play old stuff.

And yes to the XX track, which I do not know the title of, either.

Absolutely, one of the reasons I love the station is that aside from a small playlist they can play whatever they like and not in a commercial radio sense. I hear as much old stuff I've never heard of as I do new stuff which is fantastic as there's often much more of a back catalogue to go through in that case! :)

Undoubtedly, thats the beauty of it.

In amongst the new (overplayed playlist) each DJ will intersperse loads of classics and rarities.

Nemone was doing the breakfast stint today… here's her playlist:-

An eclectic mix, old and new and all different styles. Love it. Not going to like everything, but hey ho, i dont even like everything if I stick my ipod on shuffle!

Bassheads — Is Anybody Out There?
David Byrne & St Vincent — Who
The Clash — The Call Up
Eugene McGuinness — Shotgun
Mariachi el Bronx — Litigation
First Aid Kit — Wolf
The Joy Formidable — Cholla
Moby — Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?
Stereo MCs — Connected
Super Furry Animals — Golden Retriever
Jack White — I'm Shakin'
Earth, Wind & Fire — Shining Star
The Chemical Brothers — Dig Your Own Hole
The Sugarcubes — Birthday
Stealing Sheep — Genevieve

Kindness — That's Alright
Jeff Buckley — Grace

The Go-Betweens — Cattle And Cane
Azealia Banks — Esta Noche
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds — Nature Boy
Hot Chip — How Do You Do?

What's funny about that list is that my alarm went off 15 minutes before she came on and I can't remember hearing lots of the first 10 or so songs - I need to get better at waking up!

Not a great fan of 6 Music, prefer Xfm & Kerrang! but I must give credit where its due.
A superb new double album is out today from the live sessions on the station.
Tough job to find the pick of the bunch but Jimi Goodwin of Doves & James Dean Bradfield of The Manics are in great form.
All live, no auto tune, after listening in vain to hear some half decent vocals on xfactor this is the ideal antidote, Lana Del Rey is rather good too.

Thanks for the recommendation. I managed to miss every single live act from Live Music Monday yesterday. I'll have to try to find them on iPlayer as I was looking forward to most of them.

Hardly! The main man (Wilgoose I think he goes by) never stops moving all gig - sets some backing tracks going, plays a bit of guitar, loops it, plays some samples, loops a bit of banjo, it's entertaining just watching him - check this out:

I'd love to see them live but this is a Radio 6 session.

OK, I got a bit carried away with the visual description, but my point was that it's not all on tape, it's a genuine live music experience.

Venue is the Warehouse area next to Media City.

I think I am there promoting Record Store Day alongside some real record stores who will be part of a marketplace promotion.

She's replied to a couple of Ms Zimms tweets. And even dedicated a song to her on Monday night :) my mrs has now been mentioned by Keaveny, Lemacq and Hobbs. She's a 6Stalker.
