Re: 6Music
Yeh, she’s a bit straight (and too cool for school).
She definitely bucks the trend for the usual breakfast DJ across any station.
Keaveny could be alright, just started to get on my tits when he fancied himself as a comedian in more recent years (doubly so when trying to be a double act with Matt).
I like lemaq... but his music taste is probably the worst of all the DJs pre 7pm

Re: 6Music
She can certainly do:"It's wonderful being here"; "this is my favourtite song\album\band"; and other happy clappy stuff - and that's before the Biorhythm, Memory tapes etc. Tbh she just reminds me of the boring people going into BB claiming to be whacky, and are so dull etc. Maybve R2 will have her in the mornings?Darbyand wrote: ↑07 Sep 2018, 20:08 At a stroke, the 7am-7pm broadcaster ratio has gone from 80% (white over 40s) men to 50:50 on gender. Not sure it's pay-related but IMO the answer is in that stat. Wish they'd given Lammo the chop if they needed to lose an old bloke.
I'm really not sure Lauren's 'read the sleeve notes for 3 hours' style is suited to breakfast. Can she do frivolity?
I'd guess that MadRag get an even split of listeners and are the least "lad" (are us over 50's lads?) of the men on R6?

Re: 6Music
That was a couple of years ago (link no longer works). Latest reshuffle sees Keaveney off to pastures new to be replaced by Craig Charles, and RadMac have been further reduced to 2 hour shows still in the weekend breakfast slot.Darbyand wrote: ↑09 Aug 2018, 10:52 They've announced a new schedule with Laverne in the morning, Mary effing Ann effing Hobbs gets a daytime show and Keaveny in the RadMac slot ...they've been bumped to weekend mornings. Some less than favourable feedback here:

The playlist these days has a lot of dance music and MOBO. Seems a long way from its indie origins and with the presenter roster increasingly not my thing, I find myself listening less and less.

Just becoming a new Radio 1 for non-kids
I wasn't exactly a fan of Keaveney (if he was a tenth as funny as he thought he was then maybe....) but he played OK music. I do like Craig Charles as a DJ and I like the occasional bit of his funk & soul but certainly not every afternoon.....
[ignoring your core audience and trying to attract more yoof. Now what does that remind me of...... I wonder if their listening figures are dropping like TFF's entry numbers]

The Indie Forever shows are worth a listen if that was the part of the playlist you used to enjoy:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/m0012v02
While 6 Music saw a 3.1 per cent dip in its quarter-on-quarter listening figures – pulling in 2.6million listeners – the station is still the UK’s number one digital radio station.

Re: 6Music
I would imagine that last stat is only because you can't get it on AM/FM!!Darbyand wrote: ↑05 Feb 2022, 07:57 The Indie Forever shows are worth a listen if that was the part of the playlist you used to enjoy:

(Biggest figures for a digital-only station or beating everyone (inc R1 etc) on digital platforms? I'm guessing the former)
Listened to a few minutes of RadMac in the car this morning - just makes you pine for the good old days.....
Huey is still good (on now) but the rest....

Re: 6Music
More schedule changes with Riley and Coe shunted to the margins. Ageing fans up in arms but the controller seems hell bent on turning it into a 1Extra for 30somethings.

Re: 6Music
I give it about 30 mins a day on the drive home which is, sadly, Lamacq. His playlist is probably closest to the old 6 music but his chat is 25 years out of date. Very little of interest elsewhere with Hobbs and Charles.
The presenters are one thing but the playlist is mind-numbing....constant hip-hop and EDM. Both genres in which the best stuff is fine but so much dross just beneath.

I'm ashamed to admit that I use Spotify on my TV, with the screen turned off, nowadays.
Is Craig Charles still on R6?

Re: 6Music
Yep. I was put off by the funk and soul bit as it usually means shite (usually a black person doing dull, mainstream pop), but he played great stuff on Saturday evenings and got me into the likes of The Bongolians and Big Boss Man.
