Building That Perfect Album Collection..

Post by Wayward Lad »

OK....this will take a bit of thinking about but the idea is to build your own personal ultimate record collection....you are allowed 5 albums from each decade from the 60s onwards..so thats 30 albums in total. Album must have been produced for the first time within that decade to count..you can of course give a commentary on each decade and why the albums mean so much to you as this is a real personal selection....

I will give it some thought tomorrow

Hmmmmm - interesting idea. I might struggle on the 60s but we'll give it a shot.

5 is ridiculous, you cannot build a 'perfect' collection if you're limited to just 5 per decade.

What, so the 5 I choose for the 60s won't be as good as those I forget  Probably right.

Ian I've been struggling all night with this. I don't know owt about 60s music so I've left it blank. 70s (my fave decade) was surprisingly easy for me, as was the 80s. 90s was a bit harder & 00s was really difficult. I know they won't be everyone's cup of tea, but they are some of my favourites:

70s
1 Ramones - Rocket To Russia
2 Boys - Alternative Chartbusters
3 Lurkers - Fulham Fallout
4 Vibrators - Pure Mania
5 SLF - Inflammable Material

80s
1 Ramones - Animal Boy
2 Wasted Youth - Wild & Wandering
3 Cure - 17 Seconds
4 Hanoi Rocks - Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks
5 Vapors - New Clear Days

90s
1 Three Colours Red - Pure (my favourite album of all time)
2 Ramones - Anthology
3 Goo Goo Dolls - Dizzy Up The Girl
4 Green Day - Dookie
5 Alanis Morrisete - Jagged Little Pill

00s
1 Alkaline Trio - From Here To Infirmary
2 Lostprophets - Start Something
3 Nerina Pallot - Fires
4 Kooks - Inside In/Inside Out
5 Plain White T's - Every Second Counts

I thought about Transformer and Bridge over Troubled Water but i'd had Bookends from the 60's and wanted to get Brian Eno in.

1970's is tough. What about Cat Stevens? You can't leave out What's Going On? can you? Its perfect!!!

Its when you do something like this you suddenly think maybe it was the 70's "Golden Age" of music as you are spot on, but they were my favs, not just for the music though
Other one loved was Quark Strangeness and Charm, Hawkwind. Just so many

Hey Groomy, there's a lot of good memories with Hanoi Rocks & the Vapors... & as you say, each to their own, if we all liked the same stuff, it would be a boring world

Fresh Fruit was a great album but I thought it was 1979, if you're right it would definitely have been in my 80s choice - should have checked really, but no matter, it's a superb album 8-)

I thought Fresh Fruit was late 70s as well until I checked the copyright date on the CD - 1980
