The Stone Roses to announce new LP and tour Nov 2nd!

Apparently today the stone roses are finally going to release details of their first new music in over 20 years! rumours have been circulating for the last few weeks from various sources and it finally looks like it's on! best news ive heard in ages (if the rumours are true)

I'm not sure what to expect. Their self titled album remains the greatest of all time for me. Hope this album doesn't turn out to be all hype.

3 gigs announced for next year (surely more will follow? Glastonbury seems inevitable? Although in 2013 they did an exclusivity deal... So maybe T in the Park have done likewise)?

Who knows, but I'll be trying to get tickets for the Etihad and crossing my fingers my wink work network lets me get to the vendors!

Don't know if it's true but rumours are rife on twatter that a new stone roses E.P will be released on March 4th!!!! Numerous sources have stated this date though obviously it could be hearsay. the timing makes sense with the Etihad/Dublin/Tokyo and just confirmed Madison Square Garden gigs coming up this summer.

the internet was in meltdown yesterday because of the multiple rumours but once again this proved fruitless. I'm sure new songs will come out soon but I wish they'd just hurry up and give us a few songs A.S.A.P. I know being unconventional and doing things their way is the way the stone roses do things and that's to be admired but sometimes its frustrating. turns out though that it wasn't their fault as some twit just tweeted the "SR040316" with no substance and it snowballed from there

Latest rumours going round are that the new single will be released this week! (possibly Friday 13th?) lad on twitter met mani (with accompanying photo) and he confirmed to him the song would be out this week. others have said that they have heard 2 songs which are rock but with a physcedlic (can never spell that word) twist to it but are absolutely amazing songs. also apparently the japan gigs have just been cancelled coz reni has injured his ribs so people are concerned that he wont be fit for Etihad gigs though I'm hoping 6 weeks rest will be sufficient for him to recover

radio x, bbc radio 1, absolute etc all have it at 8pm tonight!

radio x tweeted earlier "be prepared; its very very good" and Gordon smart said the song is "BANGING!" dave Haslam said the song sounded a bit like the beatles "tomorrow never knows" esp the drums and guitar. which to me sounds epic!

Only heard it once and it didn't do much for me. Would have failed to make the cut for The Second Coming was my initial verdict.

Although I wouldn't go as far as Zimmerman, it's not great. The first album really has been a huge millstone for them to carry over the years.

Sounds more like The Seahorses to me.

Not as if Brown suffers for lyrics, so it's a massive surprise this was all they came up with

a) as a song in its own right
b) as the showpiece for the new album

Hopefully they've just tried to be quaint - "look at us, we all love each other" kind of vibe.

on the contrary mr bond! I friggin love it! instant classic the moment I heard it! the only reason I haven't been on here much last few days is coz I mustve played "all for one" about 60 times! loving the positivity of it! friggin epic squire epic riff, inspiring lyrics, positive, upbeat, summery song! whats not to love?

no to be fair even though I don't agree with some of the negative feedback, I do understand where you are coming from. the song relies on its simplicity, which was never a part of the stone roses DNA. I get the seahorses/oasis comparisons but then again love is the law and supersonic are great tracks so whats the problem? of course I know its the sheer brilliance as maldini says of the roses debut that is almost a hinderance than a advantage, as this obviously increases the expectancy of anything they do; even "love spreads", imo the 3rd greatest song EVER was criticised coz it didn't sound like the debut. talking of which, I think they have learnt from their mistakes, even though I love love spreads, maybe how do you sleep or ten storey love song would've been better debut second coming songs as they were maybe more radio friendly, accessible to the masses etc. that said I cant get my head around anyone not loving the "inside of me, third eye to see" bit which to me is up there with their best moments!

I think now they have SJM, universal, Columbia, sony, etc behind them there is more of a strategy now. I think the release of "all for one" was deliberate in that it was the most catchy, uplifting song they had in their arsenal. I have no doubts whatsoever that they don't have monumental songs in the pipeline that will be on the LP. Epworth (adele and all for one producer as you will know) tweeted yesterday something like "maybe some people should be keeping their powder dry" which to me means " don't have a go a them yet if you don't like the 1st song. the songs they have on their way are incredible". it is important to remember though that this is simply the 1st song of many. I have no doubts at all that they will deliver "somethings burning mark II" that will satisfy every roses fan.

also it become apparent on YT that many people are loving the song after repeated listening. I know some who thought it was 2nd rate on 1st listen, yet now love it blasting out of their car!

Any roses fan has probably already heard but the stone roses are set to release their 2nd new song "beautiful thing" at midnight on radio x!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! apparently some have already heard it on Spotify etc and say it is EPIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7 MINUTES LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
