Mum proof MP3 player

Post by jimwinn » 09 Mar 2019, 08:34

The old dear wants an MP3 player but she's rubbish with buttons

Has anyone bought one for an elderly relative recently?

A bit display and simple interface are the main criteria.

Was thinking of going the Alexa route instead but haven't used that yet - would it be okay to pick out a piece of music with a particular conductor of even a piece from a particular concert?

The issue is more about loading up the tracks in the first place. Haven't used Alexa but think she can cope with "play Mahler's first played by the Slough Philarmornic" if it is in the database.

Do streaming services have much classical?

Just given it a quick try does work, only prob can see is voice to it has to be very clear or she may not get what she wants. Have you thought of a Fire tablet thats pretty easy to use and it gives choice of loading music or using one of the streaming services
