Lapatop mini Disaster
I booted it up this morning and guess what......
The Desktop has gone ie back to some form of "new laptop" state, except for Programs
The Background is a now an MS Default type of thing.
The Task Bar doesn't have Prog's that I have pined to it.
Firefox has no Boookmarks
GreaseMonkey etc have gone
Does anyone have any idea what has happened?

What's the operating system? Windows 10?
If everything is working correctly apart from having lost your personalisations, it almost sounds like you're logged in as a different user?

Re: Lapatop mini Disaster
Blame it on Windows
To be fair I've not had many issues with Windows 10, nor even that many with 7 (I skipped 8). The versions before that you always had to be tweaking something or fix some setting but I think the only issue I've had with Windows 10 was on a fairly old laptop where the updates kept installing a driver that slowed the HDD down to a crawl.
I had to work out how to disable auto-updates on that one machine, but apart from that things have generally been pretty good (once you configure all the right privacy settings anway).

Re: Lapatop mini Disaster
I've had a desktop that could occasionally boot into a temporary profile with skinned down programs rather than my 'proper' profile, that sounds like what you have there. Reboot solved it.

Must have just failed to log 'you' in and then just carried on booting up anyway.
Maybe it just needs some coffee......
