Has UFPL died?
Not much activity on the sub forum, has interest waned in this version of the game or is everyone just more secretive since there are prizes at stake?

Re: Has UFPL died?
I log on once every Sunday to make my subs and choose my team for the next week but that's it.
With no transfers I've got very little interest in the game any more to be honest. I'm stuck with about 6 either non-playing or injured players, so just play the same team and bench every week with those having earlier games playing first. I don't think the effort of trying to find a loan that might work is worth any potential gains.
There's no thought process involved in terms of team choices as I may as well just play the Saturday players first, whoever they are, and bring on the Sunday players later. I find it very boring and won't be playing next season.

Totally disagree with the above post, it's my favourite game this year, and i'll be doing more than one team next time if possible (there was some discussion about multiple teams being allowed, so long as each has a different email address) and the game is running again. There is generally less "banter" in games other than FPL, no need to brag online about how well your team is doing, time is better spent concentrating on how to win the money. Not that my team has anything to brag or banter about anyway.

A good game made even better when managers get on and manage their teams and don't keep telling us how clever they were/how obvious it was to select/drop Aguero/Costa/Balotelli/Austin etc.

Agree with both the above, although having a number of long term injuries is quite tough.Striker wrote:+1mharv wrote:Totally disagree with the above post, it's my favourite game this year, and i'll be doing more than one team next time if possible (there was some discussion about multiple teams being allowed, so long as each has a different email address) and the game is running again. Also depends on how well you are doing - my team is pretty meh, whereas the missus' is in the top 100 so she is on about it all the time

Just me then.
Although, I suppose those who agree with me aren't the ones that will be checking in this part of the forum. I only looked because it said Mav was the last post.

Easily my favourite game as well. Probably helped by going reasonably well in it, 33rd overall overnight and hoping for top 30 after the update later. Was as high as 8th a few weeks back

They should pay more than the top 1 though. Prizes for the top 10 out of 22 thousand wouldn't be unreasonable

Today was the first time I forgot to make my changes. My mood on this game might not be completely unrelated.

Re: Has UFPL died?
Its the better game for me as well. I still care about FPL more because thats where my friends minileagues are etc. in UFPL I'm only competing with strangers really, and I think they could massively improve the appeal by showing who opponents have selected for their team/bench after Saturday/Sunday etc for head to head/minileagues, but I do think its the better premise. FPL is #1 for me but only because of others, UFPL is the more tactical game; even though my team selections a couple of months ago are now painful to me

Still enjoying it here, wasn't doing very well until a monster game week recently put me up in the running again.

Re: Has UFPL died?
I enjoy it, but I hope they tweek it a bit next season to allow more transfers in throughout the season. If you've picked a rubbish team at the beginning you might lose interest as you've no chance of catching the pack without losing loads of points on loan moves.
I'm sure if the game goes well this year they will extend prize money for next season, with prizes for the top three or more at the end of the season hopefully.

Re: Has UFPL died?
it is too much attention required for me.
A lot more tactical and different approach required than FPL but getting onto the game friday, saturday and then sunday is to much for me as I'm usually busy of a weekend

I think it's a great game and I'm really enjoying it. Only reason I don't post on here very often is because nobody else does.

Re: Has UFPL died?
The only thing I think they have got wrong is the transfer policy. Not being able to make transfers for such long periods of time is stupid and the loan system is totally pointless. Good idea in theory but it needs tweaking so you don't have to lose so many points.

Re: Has UFPL died?
Definitely wrong on transfers I agree. I would rather they allow a small amount each month - say 3. - rather than none at all for 4 months. I've been stuck with 5-6 long term injured players. That said really like the game and hope it continues. Have learnt from mistakes this year and won't be able to pull it back.gooberman wrote:The only thing I think they have got wrong is the transfer policy. We get 12 transfers in January so here's hoping we can make amends.sibrown4 wrote:Definitely wrong on transfers I agree. Re: Has UFPL died?
I'm not doing too bad, rank is 650. But I have had to carry numerous players who have been either injured or out of favour. I kept the likes of Eriksen and Toure in my squad who were underperforming just before the transfers stopped so would not have been owned by that many. So they have helped my scoring. Also don't have Aguero whereas many probably do and can't do anything with him.Calvin1979 wrote:We get 12 transfers in January so here's hoping we can make amends.sibrown4 wrote:Definitely wrong on transfers I agree. Re: Has UFPL died?
The loan system isn't totally pointless though, many of the leading players are using it to good effect.
I would agree it needs tweaking but wouldn't make major changes.
Only paying 1st place though is madness

That's your valid opinion, but as one who has several times missed out on the money in different fantasy comps despite being "on the podium", I'm in favour. Fantasy is meant to be competitive. Winning is winning, second is nowhere. Its not some socialist kindergarten where everyone is supposed to get a prize.KevIRL wrote:Only paying 1st place though is madness

Re: Has UFPL died?
I would much prefer £20k/£4k/£1k for the top three rather than just £25k for the winner.
Also agree that it would be preferable to have 1 or 2 FTs a month rather than the loan system, as I have also struggled with a reserve bench full of crocks a lot of the time.

Re: Has UFPL died?
+1 from me. And re some earlier comments; isn't one of the USPs of this game that it mirrors the actual real life EPL in some respects - specifically a minimum number of home-grown and youth players, and no transfers outside of the real life transfer windows? That's the whole point, plenty of other games where transfers can be made weekly, daily, or between games. Stuck with lots of injured players? So are plenty of real life teams, and they will be hitting the transfer market from this weekend onwards, as will players in this game.Striker wrote:That's your valid opinion, but as one who has several times missed out on the money in different fantasy comps despite being "on the podium", I'm in favour. Agreed, that's why we get to pick 25 players. Everyone has a bunch of injuries, so having the squad depth to keep scoring points whilst this is going on is part of the strategy.

Was expecting a red arrow and big-ish drop with a score of just 54, but surprisingly went up 3 places to 10th overall.
Had chadli, jelavic, Boyd and Roswell scoring well and on the bench. Chadli and jelly especially frustrating as it was between them and Naismith for the first bench spot in the likely event of wellbeck not starting.

Good work Kev, you're very well placed. I good a good score from Tadic but left Bony on the bench and climbed a couple of places with a similar score.

Re: Has UFPL died?
I'm playing this for the first time.. and i confess i got caught out by the transfer rules.. as i've said elsewhere.. i assumed it was a squad from the beginning of the season which you then rotate.. then i saw the transfer button.. and then it went.. so then i went back to T & C and realised. my error.. it is interesting .. quite fun.. i don't think i can win anything but it reminded me of the telegraph 18 man squad game.. but with the game week attached to it..
i will try it again next year with better preparation..

It's a great dynamic game. Better than FPL in my view. It surprises me that there are only 22k teams compared to over 3m in FPL. I'm currently 72nd so having a good season.fanADE wrote:I'm playing this for the first time.. and i confess i got caught out by the transfer rules.. as i've said elsewhere.. i assumed it was a squad from the beginning of the season which you then rotate.. then i saw the transfer button.. and then it went.. so then i went back to T & C and realised. my error.. it is interesting .. quite fun.. i don't think i can win anything but it reminded me of the telegraph 18 man squad game.. but with the game week attached to it..
